π― U.S. Military Operation: U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced multiple waves of strikes against Iranian military targets intended to reduce Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Targets included missile batteries, air defense systems, and IRGC fast boats near Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Jask, and other coastal areas.
Iranian media reported strikes across Hormozgan, Bushehr, Khuzestan, Lorestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Kerman provinces, including military, telecommunications, and coastal infrastructure. Iranian authorities reported the deaths of an Iranian Navy officer in Jask and the Hormozgan telecommunications manager, along with additional injuries elsewhere. Casualty figures and damage assessments remain independently unverified.
Additional explosions were later reported near Sirik, Jask, southern Qeshm Island, and Bushehr Province, although their origin and extent have not been independently confirmed.
β Hormuz Dispute: CENTCOM said President Trump ordered the operation in response to Iranian threats against international shipping and reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to lawful maritime traffic. It also rejected Iranian claims that three U.S. service members had been killed in Kuwait, stating all American personnel in the region were accounted for without casualties.
The Iranian-linked Persian Gulf Waterways Management Authority issued the opposite assessment, declaring transit through the Strait temporarily impossible because of recent U.S. military activity and saying permit requests would only be reviewed after stability returned.
βοΈ Regional Military Activity: U.S. airborne early warning, aerial refueling, and maritime surveillance aircraft operated from Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain. CENTCOM also released footage of an F-35A conducting aerial refueling while emphasizing continued operational readiness.
Israeli assessments indicate Iran is deliberately avoiding direct confrontation with Israel to prevent expanding the conflict. According to those assessments, Israel would only become directly involved if drawn into the fighting by either Iran or the United States.
π₯ Regional Fallout: Iranian officials and affiliated media accused Gulf states of facilitating U.S. operations, while unofficial Iranian channels warned residents to avoid U.S. military installations in the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Kuwait reported attacks on three northern border positions and an offshore Kuwait Oil Company drilling platform, causing property damage and injuring one worker. IRGC-affiliated Fars News separately claimed Iranian drones destroyed U.S. HIMARS launchers and missile systems in Kuwait, although those claims remain unverified.
A Washington Post investigation into an earlier Iranian drone strike in Kuwait reported allegations from surviving U.S. soldiers that commanders ignored repeated vulnerability warnings, failed to provide adequate counter-drone defenses, mishandled medical evacuations, and abandoned personnel after the attack. The earlier strike reportedly killed six U.S. servicemen and wounded more than 30.
Oman formally protested Iranian drone strikes by summoning Iran's ambassador. Major General Mohsen Rezai also renewed calls for retaliation, describing revenge as both a national right and a religious obligation.
