🛡️ GAZA, SYRIA AND ISRAELI DEFENSE CAPABILITIES

🕑 Published: August 25, 2026 · 11:53 PM Israel time

💥 IDF AND SHIN BET STRIKE HAMAS WEAPONS INFRASTRUCTURE IN GAZA: Israeli forces said they dismantled five Hamas weapons-storage facilities and a launch site across Gaza on Monday. The IDF said the sites contained rockets, explosives, grenades, ammunition and additional military equipment, with some storage facilities located inside mosques or alongside humanitarian infrastructure.

The military said advance warnings, precision munitions and aerial surveillance were used to reduce civilian harm. The IDF and Shin Bet described the operation as part of continued action against threats to Israeli civilians and troops.

⚔️ ZAMIR SAYS IDF WILL NOT RETURN TO PRE-OCTOBER 7 CONTAINMENT: During a Gaza visit, Zamir said Israel would not allow enemies in Gaza or Lebanon to rebuild military capabilities or reestablish terrorist infrastructure. He reiterated the objectives of demilitarizing Gaza and disarming Hamas and said the IDF would act proactively against emerging threats.

Zamir said “there will be no containment of threats” and that everyone who participated in the October 7 massacre would remain under pursuit until eliminated. He described that pursuit as a long-term mission for Southern Command and the wider IDF. His comments come as the U.S.-led Board of Peace has called on Israel to restrict Gaza operations to responses to “genuine and imminent threats.”

👁️ OCTOBER 7 LESSONS SHAPE IDF BORDER DEFENSE: Meeting observation soldiers at the Gaza Division headquarters in Re’im, Zamir emphasized their role in identifying infiltration threats and protecting border communities. He said one of the central lessons of October 7 is that commanders must not underestimate the enemy and must listen carefully to soldiers whose local knowledge and continuous observation can provide critical warning.

🏔️ ISRAEL SIGNALS LONG-TERM SECURITY POSTURE IN SOUTHERN SYRIA: Defense Minister Israel Katz told troops in southern Syria that Israel would remain on Mount Hermon and in the security zone for as long as jihadist threats persist. He also said Israel had acted against a Turkish effort to establish a military presence in Syria that Jerusalem viewed as threatening its security interests, directing the message toward both Ankara and the government of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Combat Intelligence Collection Battalion 595 meanwhile completed a rare nearly four-day full-battalion exercise in the Golan Heights. The drill progressed from a simulated infiltration into Israel to offensive operations deeper in enemy territory and included intelligence collection, artillery and mortar direction, concealed observation positions and sustained operations. The IDF said the exercise demonstrated the battalion’s ability to conduct intelligence and offensive missions independently.

🌐 SYRIAN DRUZE LEADER ISSUES STRONGLY PRO-ISRAEL STATEMENT: Hikmat al-Hijri, the spiritual leader of Syria’s Druze community, declared: “We are an inseparable part of Israel, and we share its beliefs and ideology.”

🛰️ ISRAEL EXAMINES MAJOR EXPANSION OF MILITARY SPACE CAPABILITIES: Israel is considering an approximately NIS 16 billion investment over the coming decade in advanced military space capabilities, although funding has not been secured. Plans under discussion include satellites, encrypted communications, cyberwarfare, missile-defense systems and eventual space-to-ground strike capabilities.

Katz said Israel aims to become the first country with a true space-to-ground attack capability. One concept being examined is the U.S. “Rods from God” idea involving dense tungsten projectiles launched from space, although major cost, weight and effectiveness challenges remain.
