🌍 SYRIA EXPECTS SECURITY TALKS WITH ISRAEL TO RESUME: Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani told Reuters that Damascus expects negotiations over a security agreement with Israel to restart soon.
Shaibani said communications had been cut off following Israel’s August 18 attack on Abu al-Duhur Air Base, adding that Syria currently does not trust Israel and considers stopping Israeli attacks on Syrian territory the priority. He said Syria is offering a diplomatic path that Israel should seize.
⚓ ISRAELI OFFICIALS WARN OVER TURKISH EXPANSION AS CONTACTS CONTINUE: A very senior Israeli intelligence official told The Jerusalem Post that Israel must establish concrete red lines in Syria and the eastern Mediterranean to prevent further Turkish military expansion toward Israel’s northern and maritime borders.
At the same time, Israel assesses that the escalation with Turkey has been contained, according to Israel Hayom. An Israeli security official also said Israel and Turkey are holding secret talks aimed at preventing further friction and stressed that Israel does not want Turkey as an enemy, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
⛽ IRAN THREATENS REGIONAL STATES AND PERSIAN GULF OIL EXPORTS: Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezai warned neighboring countries against cooperating with the United States in what Tehran describes as an economic war.
Rezai said Iran would regard participating states as enemies and strike their interests. He also threatened that if regional countries joined the United States, no oil would leave the Persian Gulf or Strait of Hormuz and that Iran would target other Gulf oil export routes.
💻 IRANIAN HACKERS REPORTEDLY DISRUPT UK POWER PLANT: Iranian hackers shut down a small British power plant for four days, according to The Telegraph, which described it as the first known attack of its kind in Britain.
The incident did not affect the wider UK power grid.
🤝 IRAN REPORTEDLY INVITED TO JOIN MECCA PACT: Mehdi Rahimi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s news agency, told Al-Mayadeen that Iran had received an invitation to join the Mecca Pact and was considering it.
The reported invitation appears inconsistent with the stated rationale for establishing the pact, which followed Iranian attacks and threats.
🏗️ ISRAELI HUMANITARIAN MISSION IN COLOMBIA NEARS COMPLETION: The “Alliance of Friends” delegation has completed search-and-rescue work at three destruction sites in Cali, locating and rescuing all 27 trapped individuals.
The delegation also surveyed approximately 100 public and residential buildings and trained local professionals, with assessments focused on critical education, healthcare and municipal infrastructure. Most mission objectives have been completed, while engineering work continues ahead of transferring responsibility to Colombian authorities and the delegation’s return to Israel.
🗳️ POLLARD WEIGHS KNESSET RUN; PINCHAS IDAN ACCEPTS LIKUD EXPULSION: Jonathan Pollard has entered politics but has not decided whether to run for the Knesset. In 2022, he said he wanted to contribute to Israel but believed his place was not in parliament.
Pinchas Idan, following his expulsion from Likud, said he had demanded an uncompromising investigation to determine who ordered the halt of operations at Ben Gurion Airport.
