🪖 Further strikes were reported across southern Iran: Seven Iranian soldiers were killed in an attack on barracks at a military base in Bampur, according to the Iranian Army. Major explosions were also reported around Ahvaz, Qeshm Island, Chabahar and Bandar Abbas; a Khuzestan official confirmed four sites were struck near Ahvaz without reported casualties, while Chabahar residents described fighter activity and three missiles or explosions whose targets remained unidentified. Iranian media claimed missiles aimed at Ahvaz were launched from Kuwait, and Hormozgan authorities said assessments of a strike near Bandar Abbas were continuing.
🚢 The United States resumed its naval blockade and disabled a non-compliant tanker: CENTCOM said the blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas resumed at 4:00 p.m. ET on July 14. During the first day, two compliant commercial vessels were redirected, while the unladen Curaçao-flagged M/T Belma ignored multiple warnings while sailing toward Kharg Island; a U.S. aircraft fired Hellfire missiles into its smokestack, disabling the vessel in international waters.
🛑 Iran says the Strait remains closed and has threatened wider energy disruption: An IRIB correspondent reported that Iranian naval warning shots forced at least two vessels to stop during the previous 24 hours. The IRGC warned that other regional oil and gas export routes serving the United States and its allies could also be closed, arguing that energy exports should be available either to everyone or to no one.
📡 CENTCOM accused Iran of deliberately attacking civilian ship crews: Adm. Brad Cooper said seven commercial vessels were struck during the previous week, causing nearly a dozen casualties. U.S. officials said American forces nevertheless coordinated the safe passage of approximately 300 ships through the Strait and remained prepared to enforce full blockade compliance.
🇦🇪 The UAE reportedly received expanded access to advanced U.S. AI chips: The Wall Street Journal linked the decision to Emirati assistance during recent months, including dozens of strikes against Iran, the interception of hundreds of missiles and support for continued oil movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
🛬 American and British military transport aircraft visited Bahrain: A U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III and a British A400M landed at Isa Air Base and departed several hours later. The mission was believed to involve the delivery or replacement of military equipment.
