♟️ U.S.-IRAN TALKS REMAIN UNRESOLVED

🌍 Reports pointed to ongoing but unresolved U.S.-Iran diplomatic contacts: Axios reported that Washington and Tehran reportedly agreed several days ago on a 60-day ceasefire extension framework tied to renewed nuclear negotiations in Doha. According to the report, President Trump requested additional time before approving the arrangement, while Iranian negotiators briefed their leadership on the proposal. i24 News separately reported that although negotiators from both sides reportedly reached a framework understanding, the proposal has not yet received approval from Iran’s senior leadership. Tasnim News Agency denied reports claiming that a finalized memorandum of understanding had already been signed.

🚢 Reported framework terms focused heavily on the Strait of Hormuz: According to Axios, the reported proposal would guarantee unrestricted maritime access through the Strait of Hormuz without Iranian tolls or interference. Additional reported terms included proportional easing of U.S. naval restrictions, Iranian commitments regarding nuclear weapons development, and negotiations over uranium stockpiles, sanctions relief, and frozen Iranian funds during the proposed 60-day period.

💬 Washington issued renewed warnings regarding maritime disruption in the Gulf: U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that the United States would not tolerate attempts to impose toll systems in the Strait of Hormuz and stated that Washington would aggressively target actors facilitating such measures. He further called on countries to reject any Iranian efforts to disrupt international commerce through the waterway.

🤝 Iranian officials publicly expressed support for Oman amid regional tensions: According to Al-Jazeera, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran stands with Oman following reported remarks by President Trump concerning Omani conduct related to the Strait of Hormuz issue.

🚀 Reports of additional military exchanges near the Strait of Hormuz remained disputed: Reports circulated that U.S. and/or joint U.S.-Israeli forces carried out strikes after Iranian drones were intercepted near the strait and a drone control site in Bandar Abbas was targeted. Additional reports claimed Iran responded with attacks targeting a U.S. airbase in Kuwait and vessels near the waterway, though the details remain disputed and independently unverified. The IRGC later released footage showing missiles launched toward a U.S. base in Kuwait, describing the action as retaliation for earlier American strikes near Bandar Abbas.
