🌍 US-Iran Negotiations Remain Deeply Divided: US Vice President JD Vance said discussions with Iran remain centered on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resolving disputes tied to Iran’s nuclear program, including enriched uranium stockpiles and enrichment activity. He said negotiations continue to move “back and forth” on unresolved issues.
American and Iranian officials continued issuing contradictory public statements regarding the proposed memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran. Reported disputes include sanctions relief, unfreezing Iranian assets, control and security arrangements around the Strait of Hormuz, the future of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, dismantling enrichment infrastructure, ballistic missile restrictions, and ending Iranian support for proxy organizations. Reports described the gaps between the sides as extremely wide, with few final understandings reportedly achieved.
🛰️ Iran Missile Infrastructure and Mossad Operations: CNN reported that at least 50 access tunnels connected to Iran’s underground “missile cities” were repaired and reopened after U.S.-Israeli strikes during the war had blocked them. Satellite imagery reportedly showed heavy engineering activity restoring tunnel entrances and clearing debris at multiple facilities.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that documents released during the opening phase of “Operation Rising Lion” indicated that Iranian agents trained by Israel operated inside Iran rather than Israeli Mossad personnel directly entering the country. According to the report, the agents underwent training in Israel before returning to civilian life in Iran and remaining dormant until activation.
The report stated that, in spring 2025, a joint Mossad and Israeli Air Force planning team tasked the agents with disabling an Iranian air defense installation as part of efforts to establish air superiority over Tehran. Operational equipment, including drones and missiles, was reportedly smuggled into Iran through covert networks, while final targeting instructions were delivered shortly before activation. Additional Mossad-linked cells were also reportedly involved in operations targeting senior IRGC Air and Space Force officials and disrupting Iranian air defense and ballistic missile systems in Tehran and western Iran.
🔱 Yemen Forms New Naval Force Against Houthis: Yemen’s internationally recognized government announced the creation of a new naval force aimed at challenging Houthi control over the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The initiative is reportedly backed primarily by Saudi Arabia, alongside political support from the United States and additional Western countries.
The force’s stated mission includes securing maritime shipping lanes, combating weapons smuggling, and restoring government control along Yemen’s western coastline and strategic islands. The Houthis and Iran condemned the initiative and warned of escalation, including threats against maritime traffic if pressure increases. For Israel, the move carries strategic significance because it directly challenges Houthi threats against Red Sea shipping routes and access to Eilat.
⚠️ Maritime and Air Incidents Around Iran: Mehr News Agency reported that Iranian Armed Forces fired warning shots toward four ships near the Strait of Hormuz after the vessels allegedly attempted to transit without coordinating with Iranian forces.
Separately, Tasnim News Agency claimed Iranian air defenses intercepted a U.S. drone near Bushehr. CENTCOM denied the report and stated that no American aircraft were shot down and all U.S. air assets were fully accounted for.
