🔸 ISRAEL-LEBANON TALKS ADVANCE PILOT ZONES AMID HEZBOLLAH PREPARATIONS

📍 A sixth round of U.S.-brokered Israel-Lebanon talks focused on pilot zones: The two-day Rome discussions were the first since last month’s framework agreement and centered on technical committees and proposed model areas in Zawtar al-Gharbiyah, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, al-Ghandouriyah, Burj Qalawiyah, Sarifa and Frun.

🔍 The sides remain divided over verification and private property: Israel sought an oversight committee excluding UNIFIL to monitor Hezbollah’s disarmament and Lebanese Army deployment. Lebanon said any inspection involving private property would require legal authorization, explicitly excluded house searches and opposed direct Israeli supervision, favoring a third party that could include UN forces operating under Lebanese law.

🧩 Implementation is expected to begin through an expanded technical framework: The U.S. Embassy in Beirut and Al Jadeed described the talks as productive and positive, with expanded technical work intended to begin within days toward a broader agreement. An initial one-week target covers Israeli withdrawal, civilian returns, weapons-free verification and Lebanese Army deployment. Ambassador Simon Karam is expected to chair future meetings, including military-security discussions, while a U.S. State Department summary remains pending.

🧱 Hezbollah is reportedly preparing for possible intensified attacks: Regional sources said the organization is preparing possible heavy strikes on northern Israeli communities, reinforcing positions north of the Litani River and covertly stockpiling supplies at hidden forward locations while awaiting authorization from Tehran. The timing reportedly depends on the intensity of U.S. attacks on Iran or possible approval for deeper Israeli infrastructure strikes, with Hezbollah continuing to align its posture with Revolutionary Guard directives.

🧯 Hezbollah is maintaining strategic silence as the diplomatic track develops: Lebanese officials expressed cautious optimism, while attention focused on whether the process would require Israel to halt operations in southern Lebanon ahead of a virtual military meeting on Friday. Diplomatic assessments suggest the talks may reduce the likelihood of immediate Israeli action but are unlikely to produce a final settlement because of regional pressure, Lebanese military constraints and the continuing war posture.

🏗️ Trump is considering support for Syrian action against Hezbollah: He said Syrian leader Ahmad al-Sharaa wants to “take out Hezbollah” and that he is considering giving him a green light. Trump also said it would be beneficial for Israel to leave parts of Lebanon and southern Syria.

🗂️ An Iraqi document reportedly classifies Hezbollah as a terrorist organization: The circulating Foreign Ministry document was said to follow instructions from the U.S. Treasury Department.

🏢 Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is scheduled to visit Washington: Al Jadeed reported that he will leave Beirut on Saturday for four days and meet President Trump. Baabda sources categorically denied speculation that Aoun might also meet Prime Minister Netanyahu.
