❌ Elimination of Mohammed Odeh: The IDF and Shin Bet announced the elimination of Mohammed Odeh in a strike carried out Tuesday in northern Gaza. According to the IDF, Odeh had served over the past two weeks as head of Hamas’ military wing following the elimination of Izz al-Din al-Haddad.
Odeh also headed Hamas’ intelligence headquarters and was described as one of the last senior Hamas military commanders involved in planning and executing the October 7 massacre. The IDF stated he was responsible for planning infiltration routes and attack targets during the assault and later directed intelligence gathering and combat coordination efforts against IDF troops and Israeli civilians.
🏚️ Strike Operation in Gaza City: During the joint operation, the IDF struck terror infrastructure sites in central Gaza City that were reportedly used by Odeh as hideouts after months of intelligence monitoring.
A nearby apartment belonging to a Hamas operative who infiltrated Israel on October 7 and operated within Odeh’s circle was struck simultaneously. The IDF stated that precise munitions and aerial surveillance were used to mitigate civilian harm.
📍 Israeli Security Leadership Discussions: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security consultation at the Kirya with Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. Netanyahu’s court testimony was significantly shortened today and tomorrow due to what were described as “policy and security” reasons.
A cabinet meeting lasting approximately two and a half hours was later held, after which President Trump reportedly spoke by phone with Netanyahu, according to Axios.
⚔️ Military Planning and Lebanon Discussions: During the cabinet meeting, Chief of Staff Zamir reportedly updated ministers regarding the elimination attempt against Odeh. Following the earlier elimination of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, Zamir had reportedly instructed the military to immediately pursue his successor.
Israeli Channel 14 correspondent Hillel Biton Rosen reported that Defense Minister Katz requested Netanyahu be removed from court proceedings in order to approve a large-scale targeted military operation behind the “Yellow Line” in Lebanon.
The report added that any agreement with Iran could lead to a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon, except regarding withdrawal from the Yellow Line.
🚧 Internal Security Preparedness: Israel’s Ministry of Defense Crossings Authority announced a security exercise at the Hashmonaim Crossing between 19:00 Wednesday and 02:00 Thursday morning.
Route 446 was scheduled for intermittent closures during the exercise.
🕵️ Mossad Appointment Review: The Prime Minister’s Office announced that the advisory committee submitted its supplementary opinion regarding the appointment of Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman as head of the Mossad.
A majority of committee members stated they found no integrity concerns and said their confidence in Gofman strengthened following additional material submitted for review. Netanyahu rejected calls for further examination and warned against delaying the appointment during what he described as a war on seven fronts.
