🎯 GAZA OPERATIONS: IDF engineering forces completed a large-scale operation in the Beit Hanoun area of northern Gaza, locating and dismantling approximately 11 kilometers of underground Hamas tunnel routes.
Troops operated for months east of the Yellow Line to remove both above-ground and underground terrorist infrastructure while reinforcing defenses for communities in the western Negev.
🛠️ UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE: According to the IDF, Beit Hanoun functioned for years as a major Hamas stronghold, with extensive tunnel networks embedded beneath residential areas, roads, and public institutions.
During the operation, forces carried out hundreds of engineering activities and dismantled hundreds of terrorist infrastructure sites above ground. An additional three kilometers of tunnels were destroyed during combat operations conducted in the area throughout the war, alongside the elimination of numerous terrorists.
🛰️ TARGETING HAMAS LEADERSHIP: The IDF conducted a prolonged strike in Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood targeting Mohammed Odeh, recently appointed commander of Hamas’ military wing.
A joint statement from Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz said Odeh was among the planners of the October 7 massacre and had replaced Azz al-Din al-Haddad approximately one week earlier following Haddad’s elimination around two weeks ago.
📌 OCTOBER 7 ACCOUNTABILITY: Israeli officials stated that Odeh previously headed Hamas intelligence operations during the October 7 attack and was involved in directing killings, kidnappings, and attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.
Netanyahu and Katz stated that Israel would continue pursuing all individuals involved in the October 7 massacre. Reports indicate that four names remain from the original Hamas target list distributed to soldiers at the start of the war: Faez Baroud, Imad Aqel, Yousef Abu al-Rish, and Ali Al-Amoudi.
❌ JUDEA & SAMARIA: During operational activity in the Jenin camp area within the Menashe Brigade sector, IDF troops identified a terrorist who entered the area and threw stones at forces.
Troops initiated a suspect arrest procedure and neutralized the individual after opening fire. No Israeli injuries were reported.
🔒 COUNTERTERRORISM OPERATIONS: In a joint operation involving the IDF, Shin Bet, and Gideonim Unit 33, forces apprehended terrorist Shadi Jumaa in central Qalqilya.
According to the IDF, Jumaa participated in the November 2007 shooting attack near Funduq in which Israeli civilian Ido Zoldan was murdered. The military stated he had recently been released from Palestinian Authority detention before being transferred to Shin Bet custody for questioning.
⚖️ IDF LEGAL AFFAIRS: IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. decided to dismiss the former Military Advocate General from military service following developments in the “Sde Teiman” affair.
The IDF stated she was suspended immediately after suspicions emerged and said the dismissal decision reflected both the severity of the allegations and the length of the ongoing criminal proceedings. The decision also removes eligibility for service completion benefits, while possible demotion in rank will be considered following the legal process.
📄 LEGAL PROCEEDINGS: Separately, the State Attorney’s Office announced that the Attorney General and State Attorney are considering indicting Prime Minister Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman, pending a hearing.
The possible charges under review include fraud, breach of trust, and obstruction of justice.
