🛡️ NORTHERN FRONT OPERATIONS: Israeli media reports, now cleared for publication by military censorship, stated that the IDF has begun ground operations in southern Lebanon beyond its self-declared “Yellow Line” buffer zone. The operations are focused on Hezbollah fiber-optic drone launch infrastructure linked to attacks that killed and wounded Israeli soldiers operating inside the zone.
🎯 IDF ACTIVITY IN LEBANON: The IDF continued raids beyond the buffer area alongside an expanded air campaign across Lebanon. Overnight strikes targeted more than 100 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and operatives in the Beqaa Valley and southern Lebanon, including weapons storage facilities, command centers, observation posts, and additional operational infrastructure.
💥 BEQAA VALLEY STRIKES: Several strikes in the Mashghara area were conducted within seconds against Hezbollah infrastructure where terrorist activity had been identified. The IDF stated that the operatives present at the sites were eliminated during the strikes.
🚧 SECURITY ZONE EXPANSION: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated during the Security Cabinet meeting that Israeli forces are deepening operations in Lebanon, taking control of dominant positions, and reinforcing the security zone intended to protect northern Israeli communities. He also referenced ongoing efforts to develop additional defensive solutions against explosive drones.
📍 CLOSED MILITARY AREA: The IDF declared Ras al-Naqoura in southern Lebanon a closed military zone through at least May 31 following the escalation along the northern front.
🚁 HEZBOLLAH DRONE ACTIVITY: Multiple Hezbollah explosive drones were launched toward northern Israel during the day. Sirens warning of hostile aircraft infiltrations sounded in several northern communities, including Netu'a, Elkosh, Malkia, and Bar'am, following the detection of suspicious aerial targets and drone infiltrations near the border.
⚠️ BORDER INCIDENTS: One Hezbollah explosive drone detonated near IDF soldiers adjacent to the border earlier in the day. No injuries were reported. Additional aerial incidents later concluded without casualties after contact with suspicious targets was lost or the threats ended.
📱 EARLY WARNING SYSTEM: The Home Front Command began implementing preliminary alerts for rocket and missile fire originating from Lebanon when operational conditions permit. The alerts will be distributed through the Home Front Command app, Telegram channels, the National Emergency Portal, and the Personal Message Platform.
🛰️ CIVIL DEFENSE PREPARATIONS: According to Home Front Command Commander MG Rafi Milo, the initiative is intended to improve civilian preparedness and protective response times. Estimated warning times will vary by region, ranging from several seconds near the confrontation line to approximately two minutes in more distant areas.
🏠 HOME FRONT GUIDELINES: Residents were instructed to move closer to protected spaces upon receiving early warnings, while noting that some incidents may still occur without advance alerts. Following a situational assessment, Home Front Command defensive guidelines remain unchanged and are currently in effect through May 28 at 20:00.
