🧭 GAZA OPERATIONS AND NATIONAL REFORMS

💥 IDF dismantles four Hamas weapons storage facilities: Overnight strikes in central Gaza targeted sites containing Kalashnikov rifles, RPGs, grenades, explosive devices and other military equipment intended for attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops operating near the Yellow Line. The IDF said the facilities were dismantled to remove the threat.

🎯 Hamas battalion sniper commander eliminated: Omar Ahmed Abu Qasem was killed in a precise strike in central Gaza. According to the IDF, he participated in attacks against Israeli forces throughout the war and had recently worked to rebuild Hamas’ military wing and advance further attacks in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

🩹 Government advances comprehensive rehabilitation reform for wounded personnel: The government adopted the Mor-Yosef Committee’s recommendations for restructuring Israel’s treatment of wounded IDF soldiers and security personnel with physical or psychological injuries. The Defense Ministry’s Rehabilitation Division will become a national authority, with expanded staffing, funding, technology and services intended to reduce bureaucracy and waiting times.

The reform will broaden access to rehabilitation, healthcare, mental-health treatment, benefits and entitlements, while strengthening assistance for families accompanying wounded personnel through lengthy recovery processes. It was developed with the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization and advanced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who emphasized comprehensive care, full access to rights and effective implementation.

Defense Ministry Director-General Amir Baram has established a professional implementation team. Some measures can proceed under the existing government decision, while others will require legislation. Baram said the reform places rehabilitation among Israel’s highest national priorities and pledged full implementation for wounded personnel, Rehabilitation Division employees and Israeli society’s broader resilience.

🛡️ Shin Bet and police resources for combating serious crime expanded: A government plan led by Netanyahu, Social Equality Minister Mai Golan and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir will increase Shin Bet and police involvement in addressing serious crime in Arab communities.

Approximately NIS 364.5 million will fund a specialized Shin Bet unit focused on weapons smuggling and trafficking, alongside expanded intelligence and operational capabilities. A further NIS 132.4 million will establish a dedicated national police unit and fund technological systems and advanced equipment. The plan also adds 130 Shin Bet positions from 2026 and provides a permanent annual allocation of NIS 35 million.
