🌍 DIPLOMATIC AND SECURITY DEVELOPMENTS: President Isaac Herzog told Al Arabiya that Iran’s repeated violations and arbitrary interpretation of agreements made diplomacy impossible under its current pattern of behavior. He described reported U.S.-Israeli disagreements as natural tactical differences and reiterated that rapprochement with Saudi Arabia remained a central Israeli objective.
Iran-backed Iraqi factions announced a $10 million reward for killing President Trump. Separately, Israeli intelligence had warned the United States during Trump’s visit to Turkey that an Iranian official had discussed a possible assassination attempt.
The warning prompted heightened security measures, including moving Trump to an older Air Force One aircraft. U.S. officials described the single-source intelligence as uncorroborated and “more aspirational than operational,” while Turkish authorities found no evidence of a specific plot in Ankara.
British authorities charged Vahid Aberi, 39, under the National Security Act with assisting Iranian intelligence. He was arrested in Birmingham and scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
Pakistan and Kuwait are also discussing a broader defense agreement linked to energy cooperation and investment. Kuwait is seeking cooperation involving aircraft, drones, air-defense systems and other capabilities, although Pakistani officials said combat-troop deployment was not under consideration.
Colombia’s incoming administration announced that it would withdraw the country’s intervention in South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice following talks with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
🛡️ ALTERNATIVES TO UNIFIL CONSIDERED IN LEBANON: Israel-Lebanon negotiations in Rome include a proposal to deploy Italian forces to supervise the disarmament of Hezbollah-controlled areas during an Israeli withdrawal.
The proposal followed Israeli and American opposition to assigning the role to UNIFIL. Security officials said the framework remained under consideration.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul separately proposed replacing UNIFIL with an EU-mandated force after its mandate expires on December 31, 2026. He argued that an EU force could prevent Hezbollah from returning to areas vacated by the IDF, secure Lebanon’s borders and create conditions for a complete Israeli withdrawal.
The proposals followed the sixth round of ambassador-level Israel-Lebanon talks in Rome. Sirens near Kiryat Shmona were later confirmed as false alerts activated in an area of southern Lebanon where IDF troops were operating.
🏭 ISRAEL EXPANDS DOMESTIC DEFENSE CAPACITY: Defense Ministry Director-General Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram visited UVision, an Israeli company specializing in loitering munitions, where he toured production facilities and discussed future projects with CEO Dr. Ran Gozali.
Baram said the ministry was implementing a major shift in defense-export policy intended to bring additional systems into the IDF, generate defense-budget revenue, strengthen Israeli industry and the economy, and expand production capacity during routine periods and emergencies.
The Knesset separately approved maintaining compulsory military service at 32 months.
