⚠️ U.S.–IRAN TALKS IN ISLAMABAD CONTINUE AMID PRESSURE TO HALT HEZBOLLAH STRIKES

🔸 ISLAMABAD TALKS AND PRESSURE LINKED TO LEBANON: The Iranian delegation has arrived in Pakistan after Islamabad reportedly told Tehran that Lebanon will be included in a ceasefire.

Axios, citing two sources, reported that Beirut and Washington requested Israel to temporarily halt attacks on Hezbollah ahead of direct negotiations. Axios also reported that Washington supports Beirut’s request and is pressuring Israel to accept it, while Netanyahu is still reviewing the matter and has not yet made a decision.

🔸 CONFLICTING ACCOUNTS ON THE STATUS OF TALKS: Axios reported there are currently no indications of direct talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.

Reuters, citing a Pakistani source, said talks between the United States and Iran lasted two hours before delegations paused for a break. CNN, citing a Pakistani source, reported talks are expected to continue tonight and may extend into Sunday.

Tasnim News Agency, citing sources, reported that experts from both the American and Iranian sides are reviewing details of several issues, with a possible extension of the talks for an additional day to continue technical discussions, though no final decision has been made.

Iranian media reported that Iranian and American technical teams have concluded a round of direct talks. Iranian TV said two rounds of negotiations have taken place between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, with a third round expected tonight. Iranian TV also stated that the Americans are still insisting on excessive demands during the negotiations.

A White House official said direct negotiations are still ongoing between the three delegations. CNN, citing a U.S. official, reported the Islamabad talks are expected to be both direct and indirect at the same time. Al Jazeera, citing a Pakistani diplomatic source, said there are intensive efforts to make the talks direct, and that if a direct meeting does not take place, the talks will be indirect and limited to one day.

🔸 DISPUTES OVER TERMS, ASSETS, AND REPARATIONS: CBS, citing a U.S. official, said no agreement has been reached with Iran regarding compensation for war damages.

Iranian TV reported that Iran’s delegation conveyed Tehran’s red lines to the Pakistani Prime Minister. The reported red lines include full Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, payment of war reparations, release of frozen Iranian assets, and a stable and genuine ceasefire in all areas relevant to Iran.
