⚠️ SYRIA-TURKEY DIPLOMACY, IRAN THREATS AND ISRAELI POLITICS

🕑 Published: August 23, 2026 · 8:13 PM Israel time

🔸 SYRIA EXPECTS SECURITY TALKS WITH ISRAEL TO RESUME: Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani told Reuters: “We expect that negotiations with Israel regarding a security agreement will resume soon. Communications with Israel were cut off after its attack on the Abu al-Duhur Air Base on August 18th. Syria currently does not trust Israel, and the priority is to stop its attacks on our territory. Syria is extending a hand to diplomacy, and Israel should seize this historic opportunity. Israel has tried to maintain its security through brute force and has failed everywhere”.

⚠️ SENIOR ISRAELI INTELLIGENCE OFFICIAL WARNS OVER TURKISH MILITARY EXPANSION: A very senior Israeli intelligence official told The Jerusalem Post: “Israel must stop Erdogan’s military expansion before Turkey reaches its borders. Unless Israel draws concrete red lines in Syria and the eastern Mediterranean, the Turkish army and navy will further encroach upon Israel’s northern and maritime borders. Israel could find itself facing Turkish tanks on the Golan Heights and Turkish frigates off the coast of Caesarea,”

At the same time, Israel assesses that the escalation with Turkey has been contained, according to Israel Hayom. An Israeli security official also said Israel and Turkey are holding secret talks to prevent further friction, stressing that Israel does not want Turkey as an enemy, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

⚓ IRAN THREATENS NEIGHBORING STATES AND PERSIAN GULF OIL EXPORTS: Iranian Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezai said: “We are telling all neighboring countries not to participate in the economic war alongside the US; otherwise, we will consider them enemies. We are not seeking to expand the war, but if countries around Iran cooperate with the Americans in the economic war, we will strike their interests. If countries around Iran join the Americans in the economic war, not a single drop of oil will leave the Persian Gulf or the Strait of Hormuz, and we will also target other routes through which oil is exported from the Persian Gulf”.

💻 IRANIAN HACKERS REPORTEDLY SHUT DOWN UK POWER PLANT: Iranian hackers shut down a small power plant in the UK for four days, marking the first known attack of its kind in Britain, according to The Telegraph. The outage did not affect the wider power grid.

🔸 IRAN REPORTEDLY INVITED TO JOIN MECCA PACT: Mehdi Rahimi, Head of the Iranian Parliament's news agency, told Al-Mayadeen: “Iran has received an invitation to join the Mecca Pact, and the matter is under consideration”.

The report appears logically inconsistent with the stated reason for the pact’s establishment, which followed Iranian attacks and threats.

🗳️ POLLARD ENTERS POLITICS BUT HAS NOT DECIDED ON KNESSET RUN: In 2022, Pollard said: “It is important to me to contribute to the people of Israel—but my place is not in the Knesset. I think I have suffered enough already.”

Even now, he has not yet decided whether to run for the Knesset.

🗳️ PINCHAS IDAN ACCEPTS EXPULSION FROM LIKUD: Idan said: “I demanded an uncompromising investigation to identify the person responsible for giving the order to halt operations at Ben Gurion Airport. Interesting who it was.”
