🔸 Talks resume as Washington limits Israel's role President Trump said Iran requested that talks continue and the United States agreed, but stressed that "the ceasefire is over."

According to CNN, the Trump administration does not currently want Israel involved in the fighting out of concern that doing so could reduce U.S. control over the conflict. An Israeli source told CNN, "Netanyahu would really want to join the US strikes, but the US doesn't want Israel involved at the moment."

Reuters reported that a Qatari mediation delegation is in Iran to discuss de-escalation and create conditions for continued negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

According to Axios, a Middle Eastern source from one of the mediating countries said mediators believe the recent Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz were initiated by elements within the Iranian government opposed to the reported memorandum of understanding and seeking to undermine it, reportedly including IRGC Commander Ahmad Vahidi.

⚠️ Iran issues new threats Iran's National Security Council declared, "Any attacks targeting infrastructure will be met with a reciprocal response, and the criminal Israeli entity will not be safe from the retaliation of the resistance."

Separately, Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated: "Our armed forces will punish the killers of the late Supreme Leader, sooner or later."

🛰️ Conflicting assessments over alleged assassination plot CNN reported that Israel shared intelligence with the United States this week indicating Iran had recently developed a new plan to assassinate President Trump. One source said the Israeli warning concerned a specific plot, while another said U.S. intelligence had already detected a steady drumbeat of reporting in recent weeks regarding possible Iranian assassination plans.

CNN also reported that some American officials suggested the Israeli intelligence warning could have been intended to influence President Trump's decision as he weighs whether to intensify U.S. military action against Iran.

However, according to Israeli Channel 12, U.S. intelligence agencies did not assess Israel's warning regarding the alleged Iranian assassination plot as a credible threat.

❗️ Iran reports casualties and transportation disruptions Iran's Health Ministry said U.S. strikes over the past two days hit five provinces, killing 14 people and wounding 78.

The IRGC said three of its personnel were killed in Khuzestan Province.

Iranian Railway announced train service between Tehran and Mashhad has been temporarily suspended following the U.S. attacks.

♟️ Washington prepares for a prolonged confrontation: According to Axios, the White House is preparing for a possible multi-day or multi-week exchange of fire with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, with the duration and intensity depending on Tehran’s next moves.

A U.S. official said parts of Iran’s leadership were unhappy with recent developments and "started shooting," prompting Washington to respond with stronger military action.

The official said the U.S. was willing to wait for a deal but would not accept an agreement that failed to meet its demands.

Axios reported the escalation could last from "a day or two" to "a week or a month," depending on whether Iran continues attacking commercial ships in the strategic waterway.

The report said a campaign that began with efforts to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities and nuclear program has evolved into an open-ended confrontation over one of the world’s most important energy chokepoints.
