🛡️ ISRAEL-LEBANON TALKS ADVANCE CEASEFIRE TERMS AS IDF MAINTAINS PRESSURE ON HEZBOLLAH

🌍 The United States convened a fourth high-level trilateral meeting between Israeli and Lebanese representatives on June 2–3, focused on advancing ceasefire arrangements and broader security understandings between the sides. Israel and Lebanon agreed to pursue a ceasefire framework contingent on a complete halt to Hezbollah fire and the evacuation of Hezbollah operatives from the South Litani Sector.

🤝 The discussions included pilot zones in which the Lebanese Armed Forces would assume exclusive control, excluding all non-state actors. The sides also addressed a broader framework centered on sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the dismantlement of armed groups operating outside state authority. Both delegations reaffirmed that they hold no hostile intent toward one another and agreed to continue direct negotiations under U.S. mediation, with additional political and security meetings expected during the week of June 22.

🇺🇸 Washington reiterated support for strengthening the Lebanese Armed Forces in order to improve the government’s ability to exercise sovereignty throughout Lebanese territory. The United States also emphasized that any ceasefire arrangement must be negotiated directly between Israel and Lebanon under American mediation.

⚠️ The talks included coordinated criticism of Iran’s regional activity and support for proxy organizations. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that “Hezbollah is not just an enemy of Israel and an enemy of America,” but also “an enemy of Lebanon and of the Lebanese people,” adding that the organization had openly called for the overthrow of the Lebanese government.

🗣️ UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash said countries across the region are “paying the price” for Iran’s expanding regional ambitions, citing developments from the Persian Gulf to Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq. He called for a reassessment of Iran’s regional conduct and described change as “necessary and inevitable.”

🎯 Despite the diplomatic track, the IDF stated it continues targeting Hezbollah facilities and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. IDF Arabic-language spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee warned residents against traveling south of the Zahrani River, stating that movement into the area remains dangerous.

🚨 Shortly after the trilateral announcement, infiltration sirens sounded in Arab al-Aramshe and Kfar Yuval following the identification of a suspicious aerial target. The incident concluded without injuries.

🛡️ The IDF General Staff Forum conducted its weekly assessment with northern mayors and local council leaders. Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir said the military remains committed to restoring long-term security and stability for northern communities.

❌ The IDF disclosed that an explosive-laden Hezbollah FPV drone struck near Northern Command chief MG Rafi Milo during a visit to southern Lebanon several weeks ago. No casualties or significant damage were reported, though the drone reportedly hit a vehicle in Milo’s convoy shortly after he exited it. The military subsequently updated protocols governing senior officer visits in southern Lebanon.

🛰️ The IDF also said it is investigating Hezbollah’s use of FPV drones equipped with apparent night-vision and thermal imaging capabilities. The military described the drone threat as “dynamic and evolving,” noting the increasing accessibility and adaptability of such systems. Following recent deadly nighttime drone attacks that killed two IDF soldiers, the military said operational lessons, countermeasures, and updated procedures are being implemented.
