🎯 The IDF’s 252nd Division completed four months of operations in the northern Gaza Strip after deploying at the start of Operation Roaring Lion. Responsibility for continued operations in the sector has now transferred to the 99th Division.
🪖 During the deployment, IDF forces dismantled weapons depots, observation posts, combat compounds, and terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground. A large-scale operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in the Beit Hanoun area was also completed.
⛏️ According to the IDF, the division’s Fire Brigade eliminated more than 35 terrorists, including operatives involved in the October 7 massacre who later continued posing threats to IDF troops in Gaza. Engineering units dismantled approximately seven kilometers of underground tunnel routes in the northern Gaza Strip.
📍 The IDF announced the elimination of Yousef Ayesh Awad Ramadan in central Gaza. The military identified him as a deputy commander in a Hamas Nukhba terrorist cell who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and participated in the abduction of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eliya Cohen, Alon Ohel, and Or Levy from the shelter at Re’im Junction.
🛰️ According to the IDF, Ramadan continued advancing attack plans against Israeli forces and Israeli civilians throughout the war and had recently posed an immediate threat to troops operating in Gaza. The military stated that precise munitions and aerial surveillance were used prior to the strike in an effort to mitigate civilian harm.
🚀 The IDF also announced the elimination of Ahmed Abu Mughaysib in southern Gaza, identified as the head of an Islamic Jihad rocket-launching cell. According to the military, he was involved in advancing attacks against Israeli forces and civilians, as well as facilitating smuggling operations into Gaza.
⚔️ Overnight, IDF forces struck several Hamas operatives in central Gaza who were reportedly advancing attacks and posing immediate threats to troops in the area. The military stated that one terrorist was eliminated and additional hits were identified.
🏘️ The Home Front Command updated defensive guidelines for northern communities for the period between June 2 and June 7. The Confrontation Line area and several northern localities shifted from limited activity to partial activity status, allowing educational institutions and workplaces to operate where protected spaces are accessible within required response times.
🌄 The Upper Galilee, North Golan, Katzrin, and Kidmat Zvi regions were returned to full activity status without restrictions. Gatherings of up to 100 people outdoors and 400 indoors will be permitted, and beaches in affected areas will reopen.
🔫 IDF and Border Police forces thwarted an overnight weapons smuggling attempt along the eastern border. Forces from the Metilan Unit, together with Jordan Valley and Valleys Brigade troops and surveillance personnel, located a concealed bag near the border fence containing 10 pistols and ammunition magazines.
🚧 Separately, security inspectors from the Ministry of Defense Crossings Authority uncovered an attempt to smuggle hundreds of bags of tobacco concealed inside wheelchairs designated for transfer into the Gaza Strip through the Tarkumia crossing. Following the incident, COGAT chief MG Yoav (Yoram) Halevi ordered both security and criminal investigations.
