📍 IDF Chief of Staff approves continued operations in Lebanon Security Zone: IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir visited the Northern Command today, where he conducted a situational assessment with senior commanders and approved plans for continued operations in the Security Zone in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.
Zamir described the agreement with the Lebanese government as "historic and significant," saying it was made possible by the IDF's operational strength and military achievements in recent months.
He said Israel will honor the agreement and work to ensure its success, adding: "The test now is the actions of both sides, and the coming period will shape the future."
Zamir emphasized that the Northern Command is now the IDF's primary operational focus and said the military is prepared to rapidly resume offensive operations in both Lebanon and Iran if required.
He stressed that protecting Israeli troops remains a top priority, noting that forces from the 36th Division and the Commando Brigade continue to maintain operational control of the Beaufort Ridge area with the capabilities needed to degrade enemy forces.
According to Zamir, Hezbollah has been severely weakened, with many of its operatives now largely confined underground. He said the IDF maintains operational control of the area and remains on high alert to deliver swift and decisive strikes if the ceasefire is violated.
Zamir also praised the Northern Command and its subordinate units for helping create the conditions that led to the agreement.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni added: "It is necessary... to ensure an international presence, which eliminates an extremely dangerous security vacuum."
Both leaders also referenced Saudi Arabia's role in strengthening Lebanese sovereignty, although no additional details were provided.
