⚠️ LEBANON RESPONSE AWAITS POLITICAL APPROVAL: The IDF has requested authorization for a large-scale strike against Lebanon following what it described as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah, according to Channel 12 and Ynet. The political echelon has not yet approved the sensitive operation, blocking immediate action while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu consults senior defense officials regarding a possible overnight response.
An Israeli official told the Broadcasting Authority: “Our response to Hezbollah's violation is not yet over. The military is requesting the implementation of a sensitive operation that requires political-level approval”.
The IDF previously struck Al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun after IDF Arabic Spokesperson Lt. Col. Ella Wa'ya issued an evacuation warning for the Al-Mansouri area. Netanyahu is holding a telephone consultation with Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and senior defense officials to determine further military action against Lebanon.
⚔️ IDF CHIEF VOWS CONTINUED PURSUIT OF OCTOBER 7 TERRORISTS: During an operational assessment in Gaza with Southern Command and division commanders, Zamir said the IDF has significantly weakened Hamas and fundamentally changed the security reality.
Zamir said the IDF will continue proactive operations and maintain a forward defense posture to remove threats and prevent another October 7-style attack. He described Gaza as part of a multi-front effort and said pursuing Nukhba terrorists and everyone involved in the massacre remains a permanent mission.
“The images from the communities, the Bibas family, the surveillance soldiers, and all the victims of the October 7th massacre are before our eyes every day,” Zamir said. “We will not relent until we bring every person who played a part in the massacre to justice, sooner or later.”
⚓ IRAN AND OMAN NEAR NEW STRAIT OF HORMUZ FRAMEWORK: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran and Muscat have reached “fundamental agreements” on nearly all aspects of a bilateral framework governing commercial shipping and the future management of the Strait of Hormuz. A senior Iranian official told Al Jazeera that only one or two issues remain unresolved.
According to IRNA, the framework would replace the 60-year-old navigation model with a temporary two-to-four-month corridor through Iranian and Omani territorial waters for inbound and outbound shipping. Existing temporary routes near Larak Island and in Omani waters would close, and Tehran said no third party would be permitted to participate.
Gharibabadi said reopening the strait and entering “phase two” depend on Washington’s actions and approval from Iran’s senior leadership. He accused the U.S. of violating the Islamabad Memorandum through renewed maritime restrictions, military action, oil sanctions and other measures, saying U.S. compliance would be “necessary but insufficient” without additional guarantees.
Gharibabadi denied direct negotiations with Washington and said messages are being exchanged exclusively through Oman. He said the U.S. requested negotiations approximately four or five days after the latest conflict began, but Iranian leaders have not authorized the next phase. Iran also acknowledged pending Pakistani invitations for senior Iranian officials, though no visits have been finalized.
