✈️ BEN GURION LANDINGS HALTED AS SURPRISE UNION STRIKE DISRUPTS PEAK TRAVEL DAY

🕑 Published: August 20, 2026 · 2:04 PM Israel time

⚠️ SURPRISE STRIKE DISRUPTS BEN GURION AIRPORT: Chaos and unusually heavy congestion were reported at Ben Gurion Airport after the employees’ union launched a surprise strike on one of the busiest travel days of the year. Critics called for the union to be dismantled, arguing that the action targeted 100,000 innocent Israelis and extending their criticism more broadly to organized labor in Israel.

✈️ LANDINGS SUSPENDED: The Israel Airports Authority said that following instructions from the employees’ union to disrupt operations beginning at 2:00 PM, air traffic activity would be reduced, culminating in a complete halt to arrivals. Landings at Ben Gurion Airport have since been suspended. Departures are operating gradually according to an updated flight schedule.

Passengers are advised to regularly check with their airlines regarding flight times and possible schedule changes.

❗️ TRANSPORTATION MINISTER ORDERS COURT PETITION: The transportation minister said: “I have instructed the management of the Israel Airports Authority to immediately petition the Labor Court against the workers’ union in order to compel them to halt this thuggish and illegal strike. Whoever made the decision to take tens of thousands of Israeli citizens hostage will pay a heavy price.”
