📰 LEBANON: POLITICAL PRESSURE, DIPLOMATIC DISPUTES AND ISRAELI OPERATIONS

🇱🇧 Political debate over Hezbollah's future role continued inside Lebanon. Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel argued that a growing portion of Lebanese society no longer accepts Hezbollah's armed status, stating that Hezbollah must submit to state authority and that many Lebanese are unwilling to remain "hostages" to the organization.

🤝 Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, during a conversation with Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani, praised Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa for helping dispel concerns regarding Syria's intentions toward Lebanon.

🇮🇷 Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated that ending the conflict in Lebanon forms part of the broader understanding reached with the United States. He argued that there is no justification for the continuation of Israeli military activity in Lebanon.

🇺🇸 Reports also pointed to increasing American pressure regarding Israel's Lebanon policy. A senior Israeli official told Channel 13 that Israel had received a clear message from Washington that previous levels of diplomatic support had diminished.

🏛️ The discussion emerged alongside Prime Minister Netanyahu's declaration that Israel would not withdraw from Lebanon. President Trump commented that the issue would be addressed quickly, including in discussions with Netanyahu.

📋 According to The New York Times, Israeli forces operating in Lebanon have reportedly been instructed to avoid offensive operations and to use force primarily in self-defense or following senior-level authorization, a measure that could significantly affect the scope of military activity in southern Lebanon.

⚠️ On the ground, Lebanese media reported one fatality and two injuries from Israeli fire in Nabatieh al-Fawqa. Lebanon's National News Agency said the individuals were struck while near a bulldozer engaged in road-clearing work.

🎯 Separately, the IDF reported identifying an armed terrorist cell operating near Israeli forces in the Security Zone around the Ali al-Taher Ridge area. After determining the group posed an immediate threat, Israeli forces conducted a strike north of the Security Zone. The IDF reiterated that it will continue acting against immediate threats and will not allow Hezbollah to endanger Israeli civilians or soldiers.
