🌐 IRAN, ESPIONAGE CASES, U.S. MILITARY ACTIVITY AND REGIONAL DIPLOMACY

🕑 Published: September 19, 2026 · 11:55 PM Israel time

⚛️ Iran’s nuclear position and military posture: Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezai said U.S. and Israeli actions allowed Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but stressed that no decision had been made and that the matter depended on Washington’s behavior. He also claimed Iran knew the U.S. military’s weaknesses and was more prepared than ever to counter American air attacks.

Huckabee said he believed Iran would eventually face another uprising and suggested there might be a way for its people to be better prepared and armed to resist what he expected would be an even weaker Iranian government.

🕵️ Espionage cases: Israeli security services are investigating a “serious espionage case” involving Iranian spying from within the IDF. Further details cannot currently be disclosed.

Iran executed Hossein Padran, who was accused of supplying Mossad with classified information for payment, including details of military and missile sites, personnel and launch locations in Isfahan. Iranian authorities reportedly found a notebook containing highly classified missile information, encrypted storage devices and concealed imaging equipment at his residence. Padran had reportedly ended contact with Mossad before the Israeli attack on Iran in 2025, then allegedly tried to reconnect through Telegram after the attack began, before his arrest.

🇺🇸 U.S. military activity and casualty reporting: CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper announced that a new coalition attack drone unit was being formed.

The Washington Post reported that five U.S. officials placed American military fatalities in the Iran war since February 28 at at least 22, compared with 18 in the Pentagon’s public casualty database. Another official said the total could be 23. Three U.S. contractors in the region have also died. Officials said the identities and circumstances of the additional military fatalities remained unclear; the Defense Department declined to comment on the discrepancy.

🤝 Regional diplomacy: Huckabee said the Mecca Alliance was not being threatened by Israel, which had no intention of attacking Turkey, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan, and that the U.S. had no ambitions to enter those countries. He suggested the arrangement might be intended to protect against the Houthis or terrorist organizations and said he had seen or heard no alarm about it in Washington.

On Israeli–Saudi relations, Huckabee said Israel wanted a security agreement and Saudi participation in the Abraham Accords, with hesitancy coming from Saudi Arabia. He described existing military and intelligence ties as good and said everyone would benefit from warmer relations.

President Trump said the U.S. was talking to the Houthis, who wanted to explore a deal. Rezai separately said Iran wanted the Saudi–Yemeni war to end and believed the Yemenis also wanted a settlement with Saudi Arabia.
