🛡️ Lebanon: The IDF said two soldiers were lightly injured in a morning incident when an engineering vehicle drove over a Hezbollah roadside bomb in the Security Zone in southern Lebanon. They were evacuated to a hospital in good condition, and their families were notified. In response, the military struck Hezbollah observation posts and sites used to prepare and carry out attacks against Israeli troops across several areas of southern Lebanon.
The IDF said its forces remain deployed in accordance with the agreement and will continue removing threats to civilians and troops. U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee said Israel does not seek to annex Lebanese territory and described its reservists as exhausted and wanting to return to their families. He said they would nevertheless remain until the Lebanese army could provide security, rather than leave northern Israel exposed to rocket, missile and drone attacks.
🎯 Gaza: The IDF said a Thursday airstrike in Khan Younis eliminated Muhammad Suleiman Byouk, a Hamas military commander who infiltrated Israel during the October 7, 2023 massacre. According to the military, he planted explosives targeting troops throughout the war, including recently, advanced attacks against soldiers and civilians, and worked to rebuild Hamas’s capabilities for continued operations. The IDF described this activity as occurring “in a systemic violation of the ceasefire” and said he was eliminated to remove the threat.
Following prolonged intelligence research, the IDF and Shin Bet disclosed that Hamas Rafah Brigade commander Nael Abu Obeid, eliminated in a Tuesday airstrike, had been involved for years in abducting and holding Israeli soldiers and civilians. As deputy brigade commander in 2014, he helped hold the body of Givati officer Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, whose body has since been returned. During the current war, he helped hold hostages, including tank soldier Sergeant First Class Nimrod Cohen, in a major tunnel system beneath Rafah. The agencies described his elimination as an important measure of closure and pledged continued action against terrorists involved in October 7.
Separately, Palestinian media reported that an Israeli strike on a vehicle in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood killed two people and injured several others.
🔎 Judea and Samaria: The IDF said it received a report Friday of gunfire and an Israeli civilian’s vehicle being hit near al-Mughayyir, in the Binyamin Brigade’s sector. No injuries were reported. Forces searched for evidence, established roadblocks around the village and opened an investigation.
Near Burqa, in the Samaria Brigade’s area, IDF soldiers and Shin Bet personnel arrested two terrorists shortly after a reported arson incident. No injuries were reported. The military said the two admitted setting the fire and were transferred for further questioning.
