🛡️ U.S. OFFICIALS SIGNAL POSSIBILITY OF CONTINUED OPERATIONS AGAINST IRAN: U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visited CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa and indicated that additional American strikes against Iran could continue in the coming days. Hegseth stated that President Trump remains open to negotiations but warned that military options reviewed at CENTCOM remain available if diplomacy fails. He later told reporters that operations planned for the night would be “strong and clear” and could continue on a day-by-day basis while negotiations remain possible.
🇺🇸 President Trump held multiple Situation Room meetings on Wednesday regarding possible additional military action. According to Axios, one option under consideration involves a large-scale but time-limited operation designed to increase pressure on Tehran during ongoing negotiations while avoiding a prolonged direct conflict.
💥 STRIKES AND AIR DEFENSE ACTIVITY REPORTED ACROSS SOUTHERN IRAN: Iranian media reported extensive air defense activity and explosion-like sounds across multiple areas of southern Iran, including Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Minab, Sirik, Hengam Island, and parts of Fars Province. Senior U.S. officials cited by Barak Ravid stated that strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, radar infrastructure, and drone command-and-control facilities.
🎯 Additional Iranian reports claimed that an IRGC command-and-control center was destroyed during the strikes. President Trump stated that the United States used 49 Tomahawk cruise missiles in operations targeting southern Iran. Iranian officials said strikes also affected areas near Karaj, Nazarabad, and an IRGC facility in Pishva County.
🚢 STRAIT OF HORMUZ INCIDENTS AND MARITIME CLAIMS: Iranian media reported possible maritime confrontations involving Iranian and American forces near the Strait of Hormuz. Mehr News additionally claimed that Iranian air defenses intercepted a cruise missile over Asaluyeh.
⚠️ Iran later announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessel traffic, including oil tankers and commercial ships, citing regional insecurity and warning that vessels entering the area could be targeted. Iranian media further claimed that two vessels had been attacked in the waterway and alleged that Iran had begun mining parts of the strait.
🌊 U.S. officials denied reports of naval clashes between American forces and the IRGC Navy. CENTCOM also denied claims that U.S. Navy destroyers had come under attack, stating that American naval forces continue escort operations through the Strait of Hormuz. Separately, UKMTO reported an engine-room fire aboard a tanker northeast of Sohar, Oman, with no environmental damage reported.
✈️ HEAVY AMERICAN AIR ACTIVITY REPORTED OVER THE GULF: Flight monitoring accounts reported substantial U.S. aerial refueling activity over the Gulf region, including multiple tanker aircraft reportedly departing from Israel. The activity followed earlier statements by President Trump warning that Iran could face additional strikes later in the day.
