🇮🇱 ISRAELI READINESS, U.S.-IRAN DIPLOMACY, AND REGIONAL DETERRENCE PRESSURES

🇮🇱 Israeli officials warned that renewed direct confrontation with Iran could resume within days. Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly told ministers that Israel may require additional rounds of strikes against Iran and reiterated that Israel would not accept attempts by Iran or Hezbollah to establish new rules of engagement. Netanyahu also warned ministers that Israel may eventually need to confront Iran without full American backing, including the possibility of weapons restrictions and increasing diplomatic isolation.

🤝 President Trump stated that he expected Israel would not strike Iran again and predicted a declaration of “total victory” within two weeks. He said he urged Prime Minister Netanyahu not to respond to Iran’s recent missile attack and claimed he succeeded in reducing the scale of Israel’s response. Vice President J.D. Vance acknowledged policy differences between Washington and Jerusalem, emphasizing that the primary American objective remains preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons while suggesting a long-term agreement with Tehran remains possible.

📄 CNN reported that President Trump publicly claimed at least 38 times since March that an agreement with Iran was near completion or that Tehran was eager for a deal, despite negotiations remaining unresolved. Conservative commentator Mark Levin criticized the administration’s approach, arguing that Iran perceives Washington as highly eager for an agreement. An Iranian official told Al Jazeera that no deal would be possible without sanctions relief and the release of frozen Iranian assets.

🪖 IDF Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir stated that the IDF remains in immediate readiness to resume operations against Iran if required. During exercises in northern Israel, Zamir said recent Israeli strikes in Iran were preparation for a significantly larger operation should Iran again attempt to alter the regional balance of deterrence. He added that all Israeli offensive and defensive systems had been placed on high alert during the recent confrontation and reportedly warned that “almost any deal is a bad deal” in reference to the emerging nuclear negotiations.

🌐 IRGC Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani declared that a new “security resistance belt” would extend from the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea and warned that Israel and the United States would face a united regional resistance front. Iranian officials additionally warned that American bases across the region remain within Iran’s reach.

🏜️ A foreign intelligence source stated that Saudi Arabia has been urgently reinforcing air defense systems amid concerns over possible missile or drone attacks originating from Iran, Iraq, or Yemen. Saudi authorities later announced that a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at a “regional state” fell near the Saudi-Yemen border.

🚢 U.S. Central Command also announced the seizure of an empty oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman reportedly heading toward Iranian ports. The U.S. Energy Secretary later stated that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was increasing “very significantly.”

📚 The developments highlighted growing friction between Washington’s efforts to preserve diplomatic negotiations with Tehran while simultaneously attempting to project deterrence following direct Iranian-linked incidents. In Israel, questions increasingly focused on how future attacks by Iran or Hezbollah against Israeli targets may be handled if the United States continues prioritizing negotiations while still threatening military retaliation against Iran.
