🎯 Last week, a terrorist opened fire from the vicinity of a church toward IDF soldiers, killing Major (res.) Itamar Sapir.
Following the attack, IDF soldiers returned fire and launched a targeted operation in the area.
The IDF now says the terrorist who killed Major (res.) Sapir was eliminated through tank fire and a targeted Israeli Air Force strike after being identified entering a structure in the church area.
The IDF also struck observation posts, a weapons storage facility, and structures used by Hezbollah to advance attacks.
💥 Throughout the day, the IDF struck Hezbollah military structures, command centers, and launch sites in the Beqaa Valley and several areas across southern Lebanon.
Strikes on Hezbollah command centers in the Tyre area are continuing at this time.
The IDF said approximately 550 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon have been struck since the beginning of the week.
⚠️ Sirens regarding hostile aircraft infiltrations were activated in northern Israel.
Following sirens in the Kiryat Shmona and Manara areas, the incident was determined to be a false identification.
Additional sirens were activated in the Shomera area. The IDF later confirmed that several explosive drone impacts were identified following the alerts.
The incident remains under review.
⚠️ The Israeli Ministry of Defense Crossings Authority announced that a security exercise will take place today, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Hashmonaim Crossing between 19:00 and 02:00 the following morning.
Route 446 will be closed intermittently during the exercise.
