🪖 CONSCRIPTION CLARIFICATION FROM THE CHIEF OF THE GENERAL STAFF

It was emphasized that the Chief of the General Staff referred to the need for conscription legislation that would address the IDF’s immediate and urgent operational needs.

He did not express support for any specific conscription law, but warned during Cabinet discussions that beginning in January 2027, mandatory service is expected to be reduced to 30 months, increasing the burden on reservists as IDF missions continue to expand.

The Chief of the General Staff said a comprehensive legislative solution is needed to meet the IDF’s expanding missions.

He cited extending mandatory service to 36 months, updating the Reserve Service Law, and establishing a framework to increase the number of recruits to the IDF.
