📍 IDF CHIEF: BEAUFORT RIDGE REMAINS UNDER ISRAELI OPERATIONAL CONTROL: IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir visited the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon today alongside senior Northern Command and division commanders, where he conducted an operational assessment, toured the area, descended into Hezbollah's underground tunnel network, and met with troops.
Zamir described the Beaufort Ridge as strategically dominant terrain that Hezbollah, with Iranian funding and direction, spent decades fortifying with extensive underground tunnels, command centers, firing positions, and other terrorist infrastructure used to threaten northern Israeli communities. He said Israeli forces now maintain operational control both above ground and throughout the tunnel network.
He emphasized that the Lebanese Armed Forces are obligated under the ceasefire agreement to remove Hezbollah terrorists and infrastructure from the area. At the same time, he said the IDF will continue acting decisively against threats from Lebanese territory and is prepared to transition rapidly to offensive operations if the ceasefire is violated.
He added that any threat against Israeli civilians or IDF troops "will be struck immediately and eliminated."
Addressing the 36th Division, Zamir praised its advance across the Litani River and said its operations caught Hezbollah by surprise. He credited the division and Northern Command with achieving the military successes that enabled the current agreement, adding that Hezbollah has been severely weakened, exhausted by the fighting, defeated in every engagement with IDF forces, and is now relying on its Iranian patron for support.
