💥 Israeli strike hits Iranian Navy targets in northern Iran: Israeli Air Force fighter jets, acting on Israeli Navy and broader IDF intelligence, struck Iranian Navy port and base facilities in the Caspian Sea, including targets in the port city of Bandar Anzali.
According to the IDF, the strikes destroyed an Iranian Navy corvette, four missile boats, several auxiliary vessels and guard boats, a port command center, and central shipyard infrastructure used for vessel repair and maintenance.
The targeted ships included missile vessels, support craft, and guard boats stationed at Iranian Navy facilities and in adjacent waters.
The military says they were equipped with aerial surveillance systems, anti-aircraft capabilities, and anti-submarine missiles, and could pose a threat to Israeli aircraft operating over Iran.
💥 The strike was intended to impair Iranian naval activity in the area: The IDF says the port was used to advance ongoing Iranian Navy operations, and that striking the port and adjacent vessels damaged both operational activity and command control in the Caspian Sea.
♟️ The operation was planned on short notice: Preparations began only days ago and were not part of the military’s initial target bank in Iran. Naval Intelligence Division researchers located the vessels and worked with the Military Intelligence Directorate and the Israeli Air Force to prepare the strike.
The strike was carried out with close cooperation between the commander of the Israeli Air Force and the commander of the Israeli Navy from within the Israeli Air Force command center.
The military says it marks the first time the IDF has struck in this area of Iran, both in the current war and in previous rounds of conflict.
The military says the operation further degrades Iranian regime capabilities and that it will continue working to impair core capabilities of the Iranian terror regime.
