🛡️ IDF READINESS DRILLS AHEAD OF ROSH HASHANAH: The IDF reported on September 11, the eve of Rosh Hashanah, that the Judea and Samaria Division had completed dozens of exercises during the preceding week. These included a two-brigade drill along the seam line and brigade-level exercises across all regional brigades, alongside inspections and readiness reviews.
The preparations culminated Friday morning, when all battalions in the division were called up for a large-scale surprise exercise to improve operational proficiency and verify readiness ahead of the holiday. In parallel, intensified counterterrorism activity included the arrest of more than 220 wanted individuals and brigade-level operations.
Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth also conducted surprise inspections of several battalions to assess their proficiency and operational readiness. A focused situational assessment examined the command’s readiness for war and operational plans for a range of scenarios.
⚖️ OFF-DUTY SOLDIER SUSPENDED OVER SHOOTING: An off-duty soldier was detained for questioning and suspended after opening fire on Palestinians near al-Mughayyir in Judea and Samaria on Saturday, September 12, according to the IDF. The soldier reported that Palestinians had hurled stones at him on the village’s outskirts.
Earlier that day, troops had been dispatched to the village several times following reports of clashes between Israeli settlers who had invaded the village and Palestinian residents. The IDF said the confrontations included stone-throwing and stone barriers placed on roads, without specifying which side was responsible.
Troops “acted to disperse the confrontation and remove the roadblocks,” the army said, adding that they also came under stone-throwing.
The IDF said no other troops were present when the off-duty soldier subsequently opened fire, and that it was unaware of any injuries caused by the gunfire. Police took the soldier for questioning over the shooting. His military suspension remains in effect pending investigation.
🎯 TWO HAMAS ENGINEERING OPERATIVES ELIMINATED IN GAZA: The IDF said it struck the Gaza City area earlier on September 13, eliminating Hassan Ali Abu Nada and Abd al-Rahim Ahmad Khalil Khawa, operatives in the engineering unit of Hamas’ military wing.
According to the IDF, the two had recently been involved in producing and developing weapons, advancing terrorist attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians, and attempting to rebuild the terrorist organization’s capabilities. The military described these activities as systematic violations of the ceasefire and said the strike was carried out to remove the threat they posed.
