🔸 Ceasefire talks remain unresolved: The U.S. and Iran are considering extending the current ceasefire by two weeks beyond April 22, with mediators saying an extension has been agreed “in principle” to allow more negotiations.
A U.S. official said no formal agreement has been approved and that engagement between Washington and Tehran is continuing.
🔸 Israel rejects Lebanon ceasefire request: Israel has rejected a U.S. request for a temporary ceasefire in Lebanon, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
An official Lebanese source said there are “positive indications” regarding the ceasefire, but no update has yet been received.
⚔ IDF prepares continued operations: IDF Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir said military plans have been approved to continue the fight in Lebanon and Iran.
During a visit to southern Lebanon, he stated: “The entire area up to the Litani River will be turned into a destruction zone.”
The IDF has also been ordered to eliminate any Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, with the cabinet expected to convene shortly.
🔸 Pakistan carries U.S. message to Iran: Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir traveled to Iran with a senior delegation to convey a U.S. message and coordinate a possible second round of U.S.–Iran talks in Islamabad.
He later arrived in Iran and was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi.
🇺🇸 U.S. increases military pressure: The Pentagon will send thousands of additional troops to the Middle East in the coming days as part of the Trump administration’s effort to increase pressure on Iran to reach an agreement.
U.S. Central Command said Marines aboard the USS Tripoli are conducting close-quarters tactics training tied to maritime interception operations while the ship enforces a blockade on vessels entering and departing Iranian ports in the Arabian Sea.
The U.S. Army said that during the first 48 hours of the siege, not a single ship passed its forces.
🔸 Trump says he warned China on Iran arms: President Trump said: “I wrote a letter to Xi. I asked him not to give Iran weapons. He wrote me a letter, and he is saying that he is essentially not doing that”.
⚠️ Iran threatens broader trade disruption: Iran warned that if the U.S. naval blockade continues, it will not allow trade to continue in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman.
Major General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of the Iranian General Staff (Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters), said: "We will not allow any exports or imports in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman if the American blockade continues.
Our armed forces will not allow the flow of trade in the Red Sea if the naval blockade continues. If America continues its naval blockade, this will be a prelude to a violation of the ceasefire".
❌ IDF intercepts weapons-smuggling drone: During a counter-smuggling operation in the Paran Brigade area, IDF forces located a drone carrying six long firearms along the western border.
The drone was identified during searches conducted in several locations earlier today.
