🎙️ Netanyahu’s UN address: Prime Minister Netanyahu faced booing and a walkout by many foreign delegations as he began his UN General Assembly speech, amid chants of “Am Yisrael Chai” (“The people of Israel live”). The UAE representative remained. Netanyahu urged any remaining delegates he considered moral cowards to leave and accused New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani of trying to prevent his visit and silence him.
Netanyahu claimed Israel was defending many countries whose delegates had left and that some of their leaders privately thanked Israel for taking out Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “With our great American friends, we crushed Iran's army, navy, air force, and nuclear facilities”, he said. He predicted the Iranian regime’s fall was not far off and would be celebrated. Illustrating the ballistic missile threat, he claimed a single one-ton missile could obliterate the UN compound.
Addressing regional adversaries, Netanyahu displayed a beeper and said Hezbollah remembered the devices. He told Syrian President al-Sharaa that Jews had been on the Golan Heights since the days of Moses, citing the Bible.
Netanyahu accused foreign countries of spending billions to spread lies about Israel, citing Qatar’s decades-long funding of American universities and outlets including Al Jazeera, alongside similar activity in Europe. He said the purpose was to instill hatred of Israel, America and the West. He called Turkey the latest spreader of antisemitic lies, accused President Erdogan of calling for Israel’s destruction and repeatedly claiming he would rule Jerusalem, and reaffirmed Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital.
Responding to colonialism accusations from people in Britain and France, Netanyahu invoked those countries’ own colonial empires. On settler violence, he claimed there were perhaps two victims annually, compared with thousands of attacks from the other side. He also described the IDF as the world’s most moral army.
⚖️ Israeli politics and legal proceedings: A nine-justice Supreme Court panel is scheduled to hear the case concerning Balad chairman Sami Abu Shehadeh’s disqualification on Thursday. Following his disqualification, Abu Shehadeh called Yair Golan a racist in a Radio Al-Nas interview and urged voters unconvinced by the Joint List to choose another party, but not Ra’am, saying the door must not be opened to Zionist parties.
An i24 poll gives Netanyahu’s bloc 60 seats. The News 16 poll has Winter and Yaron Zelekha clearing the electoral threshold. The weekly summary reports these bloc seat pairs: Channel 12, 54–50; Channel 13, 52–51; Channel 14, 46–63; Channel 15, 48–60; Channel 16, 52–52; and The Times of Israel, 53–53. The bloc order for those pairs was not specified.
