According to the IDF, several rockets launched by Hezbollah hit buildings in the area, including the church. The military emphasized that IDF soldiers were not operating near the church at the time and said the attack demonstrates how Hezbollah continues endangering Lebanese civilians.

🇮🇱 IDF Chief of Staff Meets Bedouin and Druze Leaders Ahead of Eid al-Adha: IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir visited the local council of Zarzir ahead of Eid al-Adha, where he met Bedouin municipal leaders and senior Bedouin officers serving in the IDF.
Zamir expressed appreciation for Bedouin soldiers serving in mandatory service, career service, and the reserves, as well as for the support of their families. He emphasized the community’s important role in Israel’s security and discussed efforts to further strengthen Bedouin integration within the IDF.
Zamir later visited the home of Sheikh Muwaffaq Tarif together with MG Ghassan Alian and additional commanders. During the visit, he met Druze community representatives and senior Druze officers, describing the relationship between the IDF and the Druze community as “a deep covenant of brotherhood” built through shared service, sacrifice, and comradeship.
The Chief of Staff said Druze soldiers and commanders serve throughout every level of the IDF and are “an inseparable part of the IDF and its strength.” He noted that he had arrived directly from southern Lebanon, where he observed ongoing IDF operations against Hezbollah during what he described as a long and complex war lasting more than two and a half years.
Zamir also honored fallen Druze officers, including Colonel Ehsan Daqsa and LTC Salman Habaka, calling them symbols of courage, leadership, and devotion. He said the IDF will continue strengthening its partnership with the Druze community and supporting serving families through security, educational, economic, and social initiatives.
