⚔️ Fighting Before the Ceasefire: The hours preceding implementation of the ceasefire were marked by some of the heaviest fighting in southern Lebanon in recent weeks. Hezbollah launched rockets at Israeli forces operating in the area, prompting IDF strikes against the launcher and the operatives involved.
Two separate attacks resulted in significant Israeli casualties. Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, commander of the 401st Armored Brigade's 52nd Battalion, and three members of his tank crew were killed near Kfar Tebnit. Later, an explosive drone strike wounded several members of the Commando Brigade, including a reserve officer who was seriously injured.
IDF officials described the attacks as part of a broader pattern of repeated Hezbollah ceasefire violations involving extensive rocket and drone activity directed at both military and civilian targets.
🏔️ Ground Operations in Southern Lebanon: Heavy combat was reported around Kfar Tebnit and the Ali Taher heights as Israeli armored and infantry units continued operations against Hezbollah infrastructure.
Hezbollah claimed it had drawn Israeli forces into a prepared engagement area and inflicted damage on multiple armored vehicles. Israeli media reported a serious security incident that remains partially under military censorship.
According to the IDF, operations remain focused on dismantling major Hezbollah tunnel networks and underground command facilities, particularly in the Beaufort Castle and Ali Taher Ridge sectors. Military officials characterized Hezbollah's current activity as an effort to prevent the destruction of long-established strategic infrastructure.
🎯 Extensive Israeli Air Operations: In response to Hezbollah attacks, Israel carried out a broad wave of strikes across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley.
The IDF reported more than 80 targets struck overnight, including command centers, launch positions, operatives and additional military infrastructure. Subsequent strikes against Hezbollah command facilities in the Beqaa Valley were reported to have eliminated dozens of operatives.
Israeli aircraft conducted attacks across the Nabatieh region, the security zone and multiple areas of the Beqaa Valley. Lebanese sources reported widespread damage in numerous villages and significant destruction in the Adshit-Beaufort Castle area.
🏘️ Humanitarian Impact: Lebanese reporting indicated that strikes affected residential areas in several towns and villages. Reports also cited casualties, individuals trapped beneath rubble and renewed civilian displacement.
Hundreds of families from the Nabatiyeh region reportedly returned to evacuation shelters shortly after having left them following implementation of the ceasefire framework.
