🎯 HAMAS NAVAL COMMANDER AND THREE ARMED TERRORISTS ELIMINATED: The IDF eliminated Osama Naim Hamdi Shamlakh, a cell commander in Hamas’ Naval Array, in a strike yesterday in Gaza City.
According to the military, Shamlakh worked throughout the war and recently to rebuild and reinforce Hamas’ naval force and advance terrorist attacks “in the maritime domain.”
In a separate strike in northern Gaza, the IDF eliminated three armed Hamas terrorists who were attempting to advance attacks against Israeli troops.
“The terrorists posed an imminent threat to the troops and were eliminated in precise aerial strikes,” the IDF said.
🎯 WEAPONS-SMUGGLING TERRORIST ELIMINATED IN SOUTHERN GAZA: The IDF announced that Mustafa Oweisi was eliminated in an airstrike after determining that he posed a threat to Israeli forces.
The military said Oweisi attempted throughout the war to smuggle weapons into Gaza. Most recently, he sought to bring in additional military equipment to rebuild Hamas’ military wing in violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The equipment was intended to strengthen Hamas’ maritime and aerial capabilities. The IDF said the strike was conducted to remove the threat.
📍 SETTLER ACTIVISTS CROSS SEVERAL METERS INTO LEBANON: One adult and four minors crossed the border near Ghajar earlier today before being located and escorted back to Israel by IDF forces.
“Immediately after the identification, security forces launched searches in the area, and a short while later located the civilians and returned them to Israeli territory,” the IDF said.
The five girls were transferred to police for further questioning. They belong to the Uri Tzafon Movement, a Religious Zionist organization that advocates establishing Jewish communities in areas of southern Lebanon it says belong to the Jewish people.
🇮🇱 KATZ SEEKS PARDON FOR ELOR AZARIA, IDF OPPOSES REQUEST: Defense Minister Israel Katz has asked President Isaac Herzog to shorten the period before former IDF soldier Elor Azaria’s criminal record is cleared.
The request comes ahead of the Likud primaries and Israel’s upcoming election.
Katz said it was unreasonable for Azaria to continue paying such a heavy price nearly a decade after an offense committed during operational service. He argued that the conviction sends a negative message to young Israelis serving in combat units and said Azaria should be allowed to rehabilitate himself and begin a new life.
Azaria was convicted over the March 2016 shooting of Abdel-Fattah al-Sharif, a Palestinian attacker who had stabbed an Israeli soldier and was already wounded and incapacitated in Hebron. Azaria served nine months of an 18-month prison sentence and has maintained that he acted correctly.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and Personnel Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa oppose the request, arguing that pardons should remain exceptions reserved for exceptional circumstances.
The military cited Azaria’s continued refusal to express remorse or accept responsibility, the absence of new circumstances since previous presidential decisions and the lack of significant personal circumstances justifying early clearance of his criminal record.
President Herzog’s office has not yet received the IDF’s formal opinion and has not publicly commented on Katz’s request.
