🇮🇱 NATIONAL MEMORIAL CONFERENCE FOCUSES ON LEADERSHIP, SACRIFICE, AND THE LONG WAR: As Israel approaches the 1,000th day of war, senior defense and security leaders used the National Memorial Conference in Jerusalem to emphasize that remembrance is not only about honoring the fallen, but also about shaping future leadership, decision-making, and national resilience.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said fallen soldiers continue to accompany commanders in every major decision. He stressed that responsibility toward bereaved families is permanent and that the sacrifices of Israel's soldiers remain part of the military's moral compass.
Zamir said commanders continue preserving the memory and legacy of the fallen while remaining focused on mission success, protecting civilians, and safeguarding soldiers.
Police Commissioner Danny Levy highlighted the heroism of security personnel since October 7 and the growing physical and psychological burden of the prolonged conflict, pledging that no fighter would carry that burden alone.
President Isaac Herzog warned against allowing the memory of the fallen to fade and said Israel must remain worthy of their sacrifice.
Defense Minister Israel Katz said remembrance itself is a form of victory, ensuring the courage of Israel's fallen becomes part of the nation's future.

As a result, the Israeli government has instructed the IDF to continue developing target banks for possible new rounds of escalation.
Maariv reported that this preparation is taking place despite Israeli officers not having read the terms of the deal, underscoring the gap between Israel's military planning and the still-unpublished diplomatic framework.
