The forum later held a joint discussion with Bella Haim and participants from the “Witness in Uniform” initiative, reinforcing the connection between Holocaust memory and today’s military leadership. In his remarks, Zamir said Holocaust testimonies reflect not only destruction, but also the enduring strength of the Jewish spirit, including resilience, renewal, and the ability to rebuild after catastrophe.
He highlighted the transformation of the Jewish people over the past 80 years from a persecuted population without protection to a sovereign state actively defending itself. Zamir said Israel is now engaged in a prolonged war that requires endurance and readiness for significant cost, and that its enemies misjudged the nation’s resilience.
He added that recent operations, including Operation Roaring Lion, were intended to demonstrate clear resolve. Zamir stressed that Israel will act with determination, strength, and responsibility against any threat to its existence.
He concluded that the current war is fundamentally about securing Israel as the national home envisioned by Holocaust survivors and reaffirmed the IDF’s duty to protect Israeli civilians and ensure that the State of Israel is never again left defenseless. He closed with: "a sense of mission and faith in the righteousness of our path, and be worthy of our forefathers’ dream. May the memory of the six million be blessed. ‘Am Israel Chai.’”
