🩺 KATZ DEMANDS APPROVAL OF NIS 25 BILLION PLAN FOR WOUNDED PERSONNEL: Defense Minister Israel Katz called on Finance Ministry officials to stop delaying implementation of the Mor-Yosef Committee’s recommendations and approve the plan immediately, in accordance with the prime minister’s directive.
Katz said the committee was established to place wounded personnel at the center, expand existing assistance and fundamentally reform the rehabilitation system.
Since October 7, approximately 25,000 newly wounded personnel have entered the Defense Ministry’s Rehabilitation Department. Around 62% are coping with psychological injuries or post-traumatic stress.
The department is expected to treat approximately 100,000 people by 2028. Implementing the recommendations would require approximately NIS 25 billion over the next decade.
Katz warned that every day of delay harms the wounded and their families.
🇮🇱 CABINET OFFICIAL ACCUSES CHIEF OF STAFF OF POLITICAL CONDUCT: A cabinet official criticized the timing of the Chief of Staff’s intervention regarding the detention law: “It’s unfortunate that the Chief of Staff is taking part in a political game during an election period. If this were a professional matter, the Chief of Staff had every opportunity to raise a red flag regarding the detention law. In practice, the army did not express opposition during the discussions, and the Chief of Staff did not bother to send a letter until just before the vote—at a peculiar timing.
“Unfortunately, we have already seen in a series of incidents that the Chief of Staff proposes aggressive measures when criticized by right-wing media, and opposite measures when criticized by left-wing media. The Chief of Staff should consider only security factors, not media ones, and it seems that is not the case here.”
🇮🇱 DERI SAYS RIGHT-WING BLOC WILL REMAIN UNITED: Shas chairman Aryeh Deri said the right-wing bloc would remain united after the vote and accused the opposition and judicial system of seeking to dismantle it: “The failed opposition, led by ‘Yesh Atid,’ which often preaches about democracy, has decided not to respect the decision of the sovereign—the Knesset—and rushed to the Jerusalem branch of ‘Yesh Atid,’ the Supreme Court, to petition against legislation intended to prevent division among the people.
“The goal of the opposition, together with the judicial system, is to do everything possible to dismantle the right-wing bloc, even at the cost of chaos. The people of Israel want unity and consensus. You choose division and destruction. We will not allow you to divide the nation.”
