🇺🇸 President Trump on Iran negotiations: President Trump said the U.S. needs to reach a deal with Iran to avoid what he described as severe consequences.
"We have to make a deal, otherwise it is going to be very traumatic. If the deal we make is not very fair and very good, then it is going to be a very difficult time for Iran".
Asked about a timeline, he replied: "I guess over the next month, something like that. It should happen very quickly".
Trump added: "I will talk to the Iranians as long as I like. If we can't get a deal with them, we will go to phase two. Phase two will be very tough for them. I am not looking for that".
Trump also asked Prime Minister Netanyahu not to surprise him regarding Iran, and it was described as possibly referring to Israel not launching a preemptive strike.
🇮🇱 Prime Minister Netanyahu’s position: Before departing Washington, Netanyahu said he held a close and open conversation with President Trump focused primarily on negotiations with Iran.
"There is a close, genuine, and open connection between Trump and me. The president believes that the Iranians already understand who they are dealing with. I think that the conditions he sets, combined with their understanding that they were wrong the last time when they did not reach an agreement, may lead them to agree to terms that will allow for a good agreement to be reached."
Netanyahu said he expressed general skepticism about the quality of any agreement with Iran and laid out what he said Israel requires.
"I will not hide from you that I expressed general skepticism regarding the quality of any agreement with Iran. However, I said that if an agreement is indeed reached, it must include the elements that are very important to us, from Israel’s perspective, and in my opinion not only for Israel. It is not only the nuclear issue — it is also the ballistic missiles and the Iranian proxies. That essentially summarizes the conversation, I would say, although it naturally also touched on Gaza, the broader region, and other general matters. In any case, another conversation with a tremendous friend of the State of Israel, the likes of whom we have not had before."

♟️ Regional and diplomatic context: Before the Trump–Netanyahu meeting, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called Trump to ensure that Netanyahu "would not provoke a war against Iran".
Netanyahu does not want to appear in the U.S. as though he is pushing Trump toward war, especially after Israel has already lost support among young people and is facing harsh criticism within MAGA circles among the president's supporters.
A source from the Saudi royal family told Israeli Channel 12: "I estimate that the negotiations will last more than two weeks, after which there will be a limited U.S. attack — one or two strikes on Iran. This would be a temporary solution, not a radical one, and would not eliminate the Iranian threat to Israel in the long term".
