❗️ IRAN FIRES MISSILES INTO JORDAN, CLAIMS UAE DRONE ATTACK; TRUMP SIGNALS ESCALATION OPTION

🕑 Updated: August 31, 2026 · 10:15 AM Israel time

🛡️ JORDAN INTERCEPTS EIGHT IRANIAN MISSILES: Ballistic missiles were launched from Iran, with explosions reported in Jordan. Jordan said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed eight Iranian missiles that entered its airspace.

The IRGC said it targeted technical facilities and fighter-jet positions at Jordan's King Hussein and Al-Azraq air bases with ballistic missiles and drones, claiming the strikes caused heavy damage.

⚓ IRGC WARNS SHIPPING AFTER SUPERTANKER HITS MINES: The IRGC Navy announced that an oil supertanker it said had “violated regulations” struck two naval mines while transiting a route south of the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire onboard.

The IRGC Navy warned: "Shipping companies should not be misled by provocations from the U.S. military. We warn that the fate of ships that violate security regulations in the Strait of Hormuz will be similar to those that struck two naval mines."

✈️ IRAN CLAIMS DRONE ATTACK ON U.S.-HOSTING BASE IN UAE: The Iranian Armed Forces said it launched dozens of drones at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE, targeting areas hosting U.S. forces and helicopters.

The UAE Defense Ministry confirmed that its forces intercepted an Iranian drone over the country's territorial waters as it approached from Iran. The ministry said the UAE Armed Forces remain on a high state of readiness, with air-defense systems continuing to monitor and safeguard the country's airspace around the clock.

🇺🇸 TRUMP SIGNALS ESCALATION OPTION AGAINST IRAN: President Donald Trump has not yet issued a specific public response to Iran’s latest claimed attack in the UAE. However, speaking to Fox News after Iran’s missile attack on U.S.-linked bases in Jordan was already being reported, Trump reiterated that Iran cannot be allowed a nuclear weapon, described the country as a “failing nation,” and suggested he does not require a formal agreement to consider the campaign successful: “I don’t need a signature on a piece of paper.”

Trump also argued that Iran’s attacks on Gulf states have strategically backfired by alienating governments that had previously remained relatively neutral.

Shortly afterward, he posted AI-generated videos depicting Iran’s Kharg Island being destroyed, captioning one: “Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!!”

ANALYSIS: Kharg is Iran’s principal oil-export hub and was deliberately spared during earlier U.S. strikes, with Trump previously linking its continued protection to freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The imagery therefore appears to be deliberate escalation signaling, warning Tehran that its critical oil infrastructure remains an option while Washington continues military and economic pressure. It is not, at this stage, confirmation of a wider U.S. offensive.
