⚠️ TRUMP CRITICIZES ISRAEL'S LEBANON POLICY: President Trump spent a significant portion of a press conference with the Qatari delegation on the sidelines of the G7 summit criticizing Israel's conduct in Lebanon and Prime Minister Netanyahu's handling of Hezbollah.
President Trump said:
"I told Israel that I do not like its attack on Beirut. I am not satisfied with the way Israel has handled Lebanon and Hezbollah. It should have dealt with this much more quickly. Netanyahu has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon."
Trump also said:
"I suggested to Israel to let Syria take care of Hezbollah. To be honest with you, I think they would do a better job."
He further stated:
"Israel has been fighting Lebanon for too long and too many people are being killed. You don't have to knock down an apartment house every time you're looking for somebody. There are a lot of people in those apartment houses and they're not all Hezbollah."
According to Shirit Avitan Cohen of Israel Hayom, Trump is pressuring Netanyahu to withdraw from Lebanon by Friday.
Israeli security officials told Maariv that "Beirut has become a prohibited zone for IDF operations."
🗣️ Trump's comments drew criticism from some Israeli observers, who noted that both Hezbollah and Hamas have long embedded military infrastructure within civilian population centers, including weapons storage sites, command facilities, launch positions, and underground tunnel networks. Critics argue that this reality has significantly complicated Israeli military operations in both Lebanon and Gaza.
🛡️ Prime Minister Netanyahu's court testimony was shortened to allow him to chair an emergency security cabinet session. Netanyahu convened a small cabinet meeting at noon.
