🇺🇸 PRESIDENT TRUMP CRITICIZES HERZOG OVER NETANYAHU PARDON REVIEW: President Trump said President Isaac Herzog should be ashamed for not granting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a pardon.
The President’s Residence responded that Herzog is returning to Israel from an official visit to Australia and that the pardon request remains under review at the Ministry of Justice for a legal opinion.
“The President of the State is currently on a flight back to Israel from his visit to Australia. For the sake of clarity, as has been repeatedly emphasized, the Prime Minister’s request is, according to regulations, under review at the Ministry of Justice for a legal opinion. Only after that process is completed will the President examine the request in accordance with the law, the best interests of the state, and his conscience—without any influence from external or internal pressures of any kind. President Herzog holds President Trump in high regard for his significant contribution to the State of Israel and its security. Israel is a sovereign state governed by the rule of law. Contrary to the impression created by President Trump’s remarks, President Herzog has not yet made any decision on the matter.”
