💥 IRAN ATTACKS JORDAN AND THE GULF: Iran also attacked at least two bases in Jordan this week. Several American service members were injured after one facility was struck. Footage showed ballistic missiles striking Muwaffaq Salti Air Base overnight, while impacts and smoke were reported at the base.
Repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks targeted Kuwait. Kuwait reported fires and damage at an electrical power station, a second desalination plant and vital oil-sector facilities.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported injuries and significant material damage from repeated attacks. The Saad Academy for Security Sciences was also reportedly targeted.
Two fires broke out in southern Kuwait, while smoke continued rising from several locations throughout the day.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry stated: “We reaffirm that targeting electricity and water desalination plants in Kuwait crosses all red lines”.
Sirens sounded in Bahrain. Iranian ballistic missiles and drones also targeted Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.
❗️ TWO U.S. TROOPS KILLED IN JORDAN; ONE MISSING: CENTCOM confirmed that two American service members were killed in action on July 17 as U.S. and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan. One service member remains missing.
Four additional service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and later discharged. Other personnel evaluated for minor injuries returned to duty.
CENTCOM said it would withhold the identities of the fallen service members until 24 hours after their families were notified.
A U.S. official told The New York Times: “Several military helicopters were damaged in the Iranian attacks on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan”.
Reuters reported that President Trump was extremely angry after casualty reports reached the White House and ordered a strong attack in the coming hours.
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated: “Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve”.
A U.S. military source told CBS: “The attacks that will be carried out tonight will begin in a matter of moments and will be of a wider scope”.
A U.S. official told NPR: “President Trump has ordered CENTCOM to open ‘the gates of hell’ on Iran in the coming hours”.
🛰️ U.S. OFFICIALS SAY IRAN HAS ADAPTED ITS MISSILE TACTICS: U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal that Iran is firing extremely fast missiles capable of maneuvering as they descend, complicating American defensive efforts.
The officials added: “Iran’s ability to hit sensitive targets has also raised concerns that Tehran is getting targeting help from China or Russia”.
⚓ IRGC FIRES ON SHIP IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ: A Thai-flagged vessel was fired upon by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy after allegedly ignoring warnings and attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz without authorization, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
⚠️ IRAN THREATENS WIDER REGIONAL ATTACKS: An Iranian security official told Fars News Agency: “If the US attacks civilian infrastructure in Iran tonight, to protect the lives of citizens from potential Iranian retaliation, the airports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as the ports of Fujairah and Jebel Ali, must be immediately evacuated”.
Euronews reported that Iran has asked its allies to prepare for a wider confrontation.
Mohsen Rezaei, military adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, stated: “If U.S. attacks continue over the next two to three days, the Iranian Armed Forces will move beyond the stage of deterrence and retaliation and enter the phase of ‘offense and complete destruction’, such that U.S. bases and soldiers beyond political borders will be pursued and directly targeted. The US should know that the attritional strategy of ‘war and negotiation’ has reached a dead end”.
