A veteran Hamas commander, Abu Fakher also served as a senior official in Hamas' military wing Supply Department. For approximately 20 years, he was a central figure in the terrorist organization's weapons smuggling network, directing the transfer of weapons into the Gaza Strip and overseeing the supply of numerous capabilities required to sustain Hamas' military activities.

🇮🇱 IDF RESPONDS TO STATE COMPTROLLER'S OCTOBER 7 REPORT: The IDF said treating and evacuating wounded soldiers remains one of its highest moral obligations while acknowledging it failed in its primary mission to defend the western Negev communities on October 7.
The military said forces faced an unprecedented number of casualties while simultaneously fighting Hamas terrorists, restoring operational control, and rescuing civilians. Medical teams provided life-saving treatment under fire, established casualty collection points, and deployed dedicated ground and air evacuation assets as the situation evolved.
The IDF rejected criticism that the Home Front Command was responsible for directing casualties to hospitals, stating that responsibility lies with the Ministry of Health and the National Hospitalization Authority. It added that no request for Home Front Command assistance was made that day.
The military said lessons from October 7 have already led to operational improvements, including integrating Magen David Adom's command-and-control systems into IDF medical command centers to improve coordination, situational awareness, and future casualty management.
Regarding rehabilitation, the IDF said medical records are already accessible to authorized personnel in the Ministry of Defense Rehabilitation Department but acknowledged that military physicians cannot directly access rehabilitation treatment records. The IDF supports establishing a shared medical interface to improve continuity of care for wounded soldiers.
The IDF concluded by expressing appreciation for the medical teams and soldiers who risked their lives to save thousands of civilians and troops on October 7, while extending its support to the wounded and their families during their recovery.
