🔪 IDF Chief conducts preliminary inquiry at terror attack scene: IDF Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir conducted a preliminary inquiry at the scene together with Central Command Commander MG Avi Bluth, Judea and Samaria Division Commander BG Kobi Heller, and additional commanders.
The military also released additional footage from the attack scenes, including IDF soldiers operating in the area and Central Command commanders at the scene.
🕯️ Fallen reservist soldier identified: The man killed in the shooting attack was identified as Master Sgt. (res.) Haim Kalomiti, 55, from Tzur Natan.
Kalomiti served in the Ephraim Regional Brigade as a regional defense reservist responsible for defending communities in Judea and Samaria and along the border area.
May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion. And may HaShem avenge his blood.
⚠️ Additional reservist severely wounded: The security coordinator of Tzur Natan was severely wounded in the attack.
The IDF said the reservist soldier was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment and his family has been notified.
🪖 Rear Adm. Tal Politis appointed next defense attaché to the United States:
IDF Chief of Staff LTG Eyal Zamir appointed Rear Adm. Tal Politis as Israel’s next defense attaché to the United States after the role remained vacant for around six months.
Politis, who most recently served as Navy chief of staff, will be promoted to vice admiral upon entering the position.
Zamir also appointed BG Barak Hiram, the commander of the Gaza Division, as the next head of the IDF Operations Division.
The position became vacant this week after BG Yisrael Shomer stepped down and retired following allegations of “moral offenses.”
🇮🇱 Netanyahu appoints Brig. Gen. Guy Markizeno as military secretary: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the appointment of Brig. Gen. Guy Markizeno as his next military secretary, replacing Roman Gofman following Gofman’s transition to the role of Mossad director.
Markizeno currently serves as military secretary to Defense Minister Israel Katz and will be promoted to major general upon entering the new role.
Netanyahu stated that Markizeno “has acquired extensive experience in coordinating between the political echelon and the military echelon, and therefore will be able to assume his position immediately without the need for a transition period.”
Markizeno previously served in the Artillery Corps, commanded two regiments, headed planning in the Ground Forces, and served as chief of staff of the Northern Command.
The appointments of Politis and Hiram were approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The defense attaché role had remained vacant amid disagreements between Katz and Zamir regarding the appointment process.
