🛡️ IAF INVESTIGATION INTO MISSILE IMPACTS: The Israeli Air Force says the two Iranian ballistic missiles that struck Dimona and Arad last night were not intercepted due to separate and unrelated failures. According to IAF probes, the fact that both incidents occurred in the same area within two hours was entirely coincidental and does not point to a broader malfunction.
Both missiles carried conventional warheads with hundreds of kilograms of explosives. Air defenses engaged both projectiles, but the interceptors failed to bring them down.
The IAF assesses the missiles were likely from the Ghadr family and says they are not an unknown threat. The military also stresses there is no “systemic failure” in Israel’s air defense systems, noting that two earlier missile attacks on the same area in southern Israel were successfully intercepted using the same systems.
Since the start of the war, more than 400 ballistic missiles have been launched from Iran at Israel, according to the IAF. The military reports a 92% interception rate for attacks heading toward populated areas and key infrastructure.
In total, five missiles carrying conventional warheads with hundreds of kilograms of explosives have struck populated areas in Israel, causing extensive damage in four cases. More than two dozen cluster bomb warheads have also hit populated areas, resulting in over 100 separate impact sites.
🛡️ HOME FRONT COMMAND FINDINGS ON CASUALTIES: A Home Front Command investigation found that most of those injured in Dimona and Arad were not inside bomb shelters at the time of impact. Those who were in protected spaces were largely unharmed.
In Dimona, the missile struck soft ground next to homes. The blast wave caused extensive damage to surrounding buildings and injured around 30 people, including a young boy in serious condition.
There are bomb shelters in the area, and according to the Home Front Command, those who were inside them were largely unharmed by the blast. In Arad, the missile struck between several apartment buildings that have basement shelters.
The impact in Arad caused massive damage to the buildings and injured nearly 90 people, including ten seriously. Nearly all of those wounded were not sheltering, according to the Home Front Command investigation.
🛡️ CENTRAL ISRAEL IMPACTS AND FOLLOW-UP ATTACKS: Earlier, shrapnel fell near a high school in Holon without causing casualties. A cluster munition impact was also reported in central Israel following Iran’s latest ballistic missile attack.
Magen David Adom says it received no reports of injuries. Footage showed damage to a street from the apparent bomblet impact.
The attack, the first in some eight hours, triggered sirens across central Israel. Less than an hour later, another launch from Iran targeted the central region, setting off sirens in the Jerusalem area and parts of southern Israel.
No injuries were reported in the second attack. According to preliminary military assessments, the small number of missiles were likely intercepted or struck open areas.
