💥 U.S. forces launched a major new campaign against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets across Iran after Iranian missile strikes killed two American soldiers in Jordan. More than 30 U.S. fighter jets participated in the operation.
U.S. Central Command stated: “Today at 6 p.m. ET, U.S. forces began launching new airstrikes against Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night.”
CENTCOM said it completed another round of strikes at 11:30 p.m. ET on July 18, marking the eighth consecutive night of U.S. attacks.
The targets included Iranian coastal-surveillance and air-defense facilities, maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage sites, and IRGC forces involved in the July 17 attacks against American personnel in Jordan.
💥 Iranian media reported renewed U.S. strikes across southern Iran, including near Sirik, Haji Abad and Qeshm Island.
Explosions were reported in Bandar Abbas and Bandar Lengeh, while fighter-jet activity was observed over Kish Island. Hormozgan officials said they had received reports of explosions but had not verified evidence of missile strikes or American air attacks, according to Mehr and Tasnim.
Tasnim separately reported multiple explosions across Qeshm Island, with local observations indicating between three and five strikes. At least six missiles reportedly struck areas on the island’s outskirts following explosions heard across several locations.
Tasnim and Farsna later reported renewed U.S. fighter-jet strikes on Qeshm Island.
Asked about reports that Iran was no longer following the memorandum of understanding, President Trump told NewsNation: “I couldn't care less”.
⚠️ Iran informed Saudi Arabia and Oman that it plans to inflict “significant damage” on the United Arab Emirates, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Iranian Army Public Relations also claimed: “A few hours ago, the Islamic Republic of Iran Army targeted the US army's ammunition depot in the Al-Adiri camp, as well as the Patriot radar and air radar in the Ali Al-Salem base in Kuwait, with massive drone attacks.”
The Kuwaiti military said its air defenses engaged Iranian missiles and drones.
Two U.S. Air Force refueling aircraft were reportedly evacuated from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and transferred to Israel amid concerns that Iran could target them.
❌ The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) reportedly thwarted a Hezbollah plot to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu, at his Miami residence.
Ronen Cohen, chairman of the advisory body to the Israeli ministerial committee responsible for Shin Bet affairs, stated: “An assassination attempt was made against a member of PM Netanyahu's family, and it was thwarted at the last minute following the assassination of Ali Khamenei”.
According to i24 News, the Hezbollah cell attempted the attack following the assassination of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The plot was reportedly stopped after members of the cell had already reached the floor below Yair Netanyahu’s apartment.
🛡️ Israel’s security cabinet provisionally approved a nationwide six-month ban on personal drones.
The measure is intended to address concerns that Iran could use privately operated drones to assassinate senior Israeli figures, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, in retaliation for the assassination of Ali Khamenei, according to Israel Hayom.
