🇮🇱 MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES HELD ACROSS IDF UNITS: More than 1,000 ultra-Orthodox soldiers stood during the memorial siren at a Netzah Yehuda Association ceremony attended by Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, Finance Minister Smotrich, and other figures.
Harel Erlanger, son of the late Sergeant Major Nehemia Erlanger and a graduate of the IDF’s ultra-Orthodox tracks, recited Kaddish with a voice choked with tears.
The IDF’s Hasmonean Brigade held a Memorial Day ceremony this evening at its training base in the Jordan Valley, despite an earlier report claiming ultra-Orthodox soldiers would not participate in such an event.
According to the military, the ceremony included the Yizkor memorial prayer, lighting a flame, lowering the state flag to half mast, and singing the Hatikva national anthem.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hasmonean Brigade commander Col. Shemer Raviv said, “On this day, we pause our daily routine, bow our heads, and unite in remembrance of the fallen. those who gave their lives so that we may live here, in this land, in safety.”
“This day expresses the deep spiritual bond between all parts of the nation, a day on which an entire people gathers around a shared memory, shared pain, and immeasurable gratitude,” he added, according to remarks published by the army.
The IDF said Memorial Day ceremonies were also held in Lebanon, where some Hasmonean Brigade troops are deployed, in accordance with operational activity.
Channel 13 had earlier reported that the ultra-Orthodox unit’s troops would not participate in Memorial Day or Independence Day events in an effort to prevent exposure to Zionist content that could be considered unsuitable for a Haredi audience.
❌ IDF ELIMINATES TERRORISTS IN SOUTHERN LEBANON: In two separate incidents earlier today, IDF soldiers identified terrorists in the Bint Jbeil area operating within the Forward Defense Area in violation of the ceasefire understandings and approaching troops, posing an imminent threat.
The Israeli Air Force, acting on direction from ground forces, struck and eliminated the terrorists.
In an additional incident in the Litani area, IDF soldiers identified terrorists again operating within the Forward Defense Area and approaching troops, posing an imminent threat.
The Israeli Air Force then struck and eliminated the terrorists.
IDF forces continue operating south of the Forward Defense Line in accordance with the ceasefire understandings to prevent threats to Israel’s northern communities.
