‼️ IRANIAN DRONE STRIKES AZERBAIJAN’S NAKHCHIVAN REGION AS GULF ENERGY DISRUPTIONS AND GLOBAL DIPLOMATIC RESPONSES EMERGE

💥 Iranian drone strike reported in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region:

A long-range Iranian Arash-2 drone struck near Nakhchivan International Airport in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, after earlier reports incorrectly described the platform as a Shahed drone.

A source close to the Azerbaijani government told Reuters: "Missiles and drones launched from Iran fell near the Nakhchivan Airport".

Azerbaijani sources told Al Jazeera that two Iranian drones crashed over the Nakhchivan region, with one falling near the airport and the other near a school. Schools near the airport have been evacuated.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s ambassador in Baku and delivered an official note. "Azerbaijan reserves the right to take appropriate response measures," the Azerbaijani MFA said in a statement.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry warned that response measures are being prepared following attacks on civilian infrastructure. "Attacks on the country's civilian infrastructure will not go unanswered, response measures are being prepared to protect Azerbaijan's sovereignty, civilians, and critical infrastructure. Full responsibility lies with Iran for the attacks".

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi denied targeting Azerbaijan. "We did not target Azerbaijan and we do not attack neighboring countries. Iran's policy is only to attack the military bases of its enemies, including the US and Zionist regime".

🛢️ Energy-related incidents reported in Oman and Iraq, with broader market disruption: A fuel storage tank belonging to the Oman Oil Marketing Company was attacked, and operations at the affected site have been temporarily suspended.

An Iraqi security source told Al Jazeera: "A boat hit an oil tanker flying the Bahamas flag in the port of Khor Al-Zubair in Iraq, resulting in damage and an oil spill".

Bloomberg reported that the Chinese government has instructed the country’s largest oil refiners to suspend exports of diesel and gasoline as disruptions in the Gulf affect crude arrivals from a major producing region.

🗣️ Iran accuses the United States over a reported naval strike and disputes U.S. nuclear claims: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi said the Iranian frigate Dena was struck in international waters while visiting as a guest of the Indian Navy. "The U.S. has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran's shores. Frigate Dena, a guest of the Indian Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning. The U.S. will come to bitterly regret precedent it has set".

Iran’s Foreign Ministry criticized shifting U.S. messaging on Iran’s nuclear capabilities. "The Americans said they destroyed our nuclear capabilities, and today they say we are close to making a nuclear bomb".

♟️ Strategic messaging and diplomatic positioning from Israel, the United States, Russia, and China: President Isaac Herzog: "The goal of the war is not to change the regime in Iran, but to change the Middle East".

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz: "Keep going to the end — we are with you".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: "One of the goals of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran is to drive a wedge between Iran and the Gulf states".

The Kremlin: "Iran has not submitted a request to Moscow for arms supplies"

Chinese Foreign Ministry: "We will send a special envoy to mediate in the Middle East".
