The International Energy Agency also announced that its 32 member countries unanimously approved the release of 400 million barrels from strategic petroleum reserves. The move is intended to stabilize global energy markets amid supply disruptions linked to the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.

This would be the largest coordinated drawdown of strategic reserves on record, surpassing the 182 million barrels released in 2022. Implementation details and timelines have not yet been announced.
